Terrible bar staff, don't know when to cut the punters off so everyone is a total mess. Full of meat heads. Door staff will let any idiot in.
This place has really gone down hill. Get new staff ASAP

Was in on Friday night. Not many people but good atmosphere. Incompitant barman served me a dodgy drink and was violently ill all of next day. I wass try and avoid in future but not many options late night Guildford. If I do im sticking to bottles
Good range of beers, fun staff, nice music and pretty laid back. Recommend.
I like the bar I love the fact it stays open late with no entrance fee. Staff are mainly pleasant and good fun. Fast service always recieved even when it's packed as it always is over the weekend.
One of the best pubs in Guildford! Far better alternative to Dusk or Casino!
great little bar went in midweek after work and had a great night!
Go to this place alot and always have a good night with the girls. Brilliant Dj's, friendly atmosphere, good drinks - recommended!!
Should go back to being a cheese shop.
I went here for the first time on Saturday and had a brilliant time; friendly staff, great atmosphere and loads of fun
Absolutely brilliant! Lovely atmosphere, extremely friendly bar staff and it makes it extra good that it is open until so late! definately a far better alternative to Dusk at the weekends!
I've gotta say i felt very welcome as soon as i walked in as the bouncers were very friendly and shaired some banter! Our group arrived around 9pm and there was free tables available to sit and music was at a nice level to chat but as it got later and a bit busier it really turned into a party. Very friendly atmosphere with chatty staff and cheap drinks!!! I'll definately be coming back! P.S. The sqisshed frogs shots are amazing!
a hidden wonder! Brilliant atmosphere, good selection of drinks and fab music.Came in on a Thursday night and thought the DJ was ace. It is nice to have a late night watering hole during the week and although it did get quite busy later it was not as uncomfortably crowded as has been suggested and kind of added to the places continental charm. Going back later this week....kinda wanna check out the Tudor Lounge too. I hear they have very fancy tables? All in all, it's my kinda place.

A group of us came here last Saturday night (9 Jan) shortly before midnight. I was impressed that I could enter this place open until 2am - without either queuing, paying or producing any relevant ID to the bouncers present. Inside was heaving and cramped, thereby confirming the views expressed in other posts.
The atmosphere was jovial and I enjoyed the music playing here. It was not my round though, so I have no idea of the types/prices of drinks in this place. If on the H-File hunt, however, it would be difficult to move around in what is a comparatively small venue given how busy it was.
Overall, if youre after a late drink on a Friday/Saturday night in Guildford and not keen on visiting the Dusk/Casino nightclubs, then I would recommend this place if you can tolerate how cramped it becomes. No good for me if I was on the H-File hunt though.

Too cramped and uncomfortable to be here for long. Joined onto the Tudor Lounge. Did I spot a bottle of pride in the fridge?
Nice enough place I suppose. But the bar staff really need to learn customer service/smile. I appreciate that late at night as a bar person you're gonna encounter some pretty drunk wallys, but there's no need to treat everyone with an indifference that borders on being ******* rude. Try and smile and have a bit of banter in here, and they'll just assume (in an arrogant way) that you're trying to get in their knickers. Good beer, average atmosphere, but what really, really lets this place down is the staff. Apart from the manager, who's always nice.
Not great beer but open til late! Tapas style of food and the beers include Kronenbourg, Fosters and Sagras on tap.
Cramped bar hmmmmmm somewhere 2 go i suppose.
Not always that enjoyable.
Tapas food is not the best.
Cramped inside.
Reasonable selection of beers.
Well - they seem to have removed the excellent San Miguel and replaced it with that awful Sagres lager. Why would they do such a thing? There are a few bottles ales but its a struggle to enjoy it at times.
Disagree with previous post. It is boring.
Great Bar! Visited the other night and I have to say that I was impressed not only with the wonderful staff but the excellent range of drinks. Pride, Spitfire and Theakston in bottles! As well as plenty of half-decent lagers on tap, such as sanger?! Or at least I think that was the name of the this nice tasting lager... I recommend this bar to everyone! Thank You.
could be a great bar, but too small, too fll of foreign students. good for a late one
5/10
Smallpiece lovely post but did not understand a fking word my friend, perhaps u were pissed thats right because this is the place where ppl come around to get pissed it aint much cop if you ask me though i would say at least they r a bit better with their range of bottled beers than they used 2 be so there is alternatives to boring lager or guinness usual mundane etc.. but would not choose it over town pubs.

Cramped and not always that enjoyable. Ok I suppose.
Visisted here recently - Its a bar really and not a pub. There is a mini outside area, but not so great for a cold winter evening. They are keen on selling San Miguel beer in this Spanish Themed Tapas Bar. I quite like it for a late evening drink.
Youngsters packed bar. Not amazing, guinness ok if desperate.
I do agree here Mr R bloody horid place ok if you like being pushed about alot, it should change back to a cheese shop!!!!!
Off-putting type around this bar. They really don't allow much time for drinking up.

This is not a bad bar its just toooo small and yes it does kick off in here every now and then. But if you want to have a late drink its your kind off place.
i came in here for the first time - very good in so many directions. music good. lighting & ambiance good. we sat up in their crows nest & watched the chatty crowd enjoying themselves. getting it right - will be back.
SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS
Typical of Guildford you have to come to very small bar to get a late drink with no hassle.Bridge Street should be bulldozed along with any thing to do with Mr.Harper and let independent people be able to open bars and not always bloody pub groups. Rant over. Problem with this bar its just not big enough.
Has to be said the queues are often very very long here
I used to go here when it first opened, but it gets way too crowded for the 5 foot bar. You get to a point where you can't even walk. It fills up too quickly and you can't get in after 11. Ok, but nothing special.
I really like this little place- yes it does get packed, but as it opens later than the other pubs and bars, and is a damn sight better than any of the clubs, it would. The staff are very friendly and the owner and bar manager are both excellent. There is a great atmosphere in the place, despite the sporadic appearances of the entire Guildford rugby club. Go, drink, try a cocktail or two, have a shot with the bar staff, have some tapas and have a great time. Live music is a big plus on a Monday too.
To small ok if u liked being pushed about a ot

Nice clean place. Not too sure whether its a pub, bar, restaurant or music venue.. Major downside is the complete lack of space.
anonymous - 18 Apr 2006 14:35 |
Now open to 1am on weekdays and 2am to weekends, No wonder it gets packed! slightly limited range.. and seating space.. however it doesnt have the yobbish culture of places in bridge street :)

Really good place, slightly different range of beers, inc 1664 Blonde which is smooth. Well worth getting a crowd of your mates together for and drinking, or hit the Tapas which to be honest HAS to be the way forward in food.
I'd booked the non-smoking upstairs area for a small gathering of friends and everyone enjoyed the evening. Staff are friendly and relaxed and the atmosphere is pretty chilled, perfect for chatting. Iordered a selection of dishes for everyone and all were quickly devoured with no complaints!

Fahrenheit 55 is a great new tapas bar in Guildford, serving fantastic value tapas meals and great drinks. It's unique, cosy and welcoming, with incredible decor including stunning stained glass. More than that, it has a superb ambience, with friendly, efficient staff and excellent service. It's rapidly gaining a superb reputation and repeat customers. Open from 11 am till midnight, this buzzing bar offers a friendly venue for snacks, drinks, coffee and a chat, whatever you want, whenever you want. I can't praise it too highly. Monday evenings they have a band too, so join the growing numbers of visitors to this great little place and enjoy yourself.
A cracking little bar, it also serves some 'unique' tapas - as in anything you want at all is now tapas, with friendly bar staff and atmosphere this is great little haven in Guildford's heaving morass- it is hidden away and feels like knowing a secret bit of Guildford... Good cold lagers and guiness and cocktails and a no-smoking room- this place is really pretty cool. Interesting decor, too. To sound knowledgeable, it is the trasnsition from dusk till dawn. Apparently. Not sure what the comet thing is for then, but there we go.
