All set to be a restaurant.

Currently closed for refurbishment... Wonder what it shall be like when open, ie still a sports bar? We shall see

Nothing wrong with this being called the Guildford Hotel. I do indeed like this name plus any pub which is passionate about sport interests me. Try the murphys irish stout for beer. 9/10 from me.
|
It is a good venue if you like to watch sports on TV. It is worthy of a decent rating of around 8/10. Would like more ales on tap to be honest. Still, it is the Guildford Hotel, not sure why it keeps changing its name.
|
Still got the large white horse outside so it should still be called The White Horse hotel to call it The Guildford Hotel is an insult to Guildfordians as its this place is pants it used to be quite classy not no more.
|
I can assure you the place is still open. Think they were just closed around the christmas time!
|
Walked past here yesterday (Sunday Dec 30) afternoon around 2ish, but it looked shut down?? Shame, as this is an excellent boozer to watch televised footy in.
|
Always seems to be quiet, quite often with some very drunk person propping up the bar. Used now and again apres work.

The so called "curtain raiser" of the new English football season brought me and a couple of friends here Sunday afternoon (5 Aug) for the Man Yoo, Chelsea Community Shield match. At least this game was a vast improvement on the 2007 FA Cup final between the sides. There was only 1 other person here when we arrived shortly before 2.30, so we were therefore able to re-arrange the comfy sofas for our own viewing comfort in front of the plasma on the wall. We also watched the end of the F1 race before the footy started as the phenomenal Lewis Hamilton cruised to yet another win.
It was only 1.50 for a pint of either Pepsi/lemonade, while the woman working behind the bar was friendly and efficient. As mentioned previously, this is a relaxing place to watch football when at this end of town given it does not appear to get that packed. I had been to KFC and could not be bothered to walk back down the High Street to Bar Med. My mate, moreover, had found parking on the high street near KFC, which was a rarity itself for a Sunday afternoon!
In short, a quality boozer for watching televised football despite the Guildford Hotel not having a screen the same size as the HUGE one in the Foxtons, ha ha!

I came here to watch Chelsea crash out of the Champions League to Liverpool last night. A 54 million strike force this season and all the Blues have to show so far is the League Cup! Despite arriving at 7.30ish and the game kicking off at 7.45, I easily got a seat on one of the comfy sofas just in front of the plasma on the wall. There was similar size plasma at the other end of this pub and a couple of TV screens above the bar. There was a febrile atmosphere in here, with of the majority of people - surprisingly I felt - supporting Liverpool. Nothing noteworthy regarding the dcor, while a Magners cost me 3. On first impressions, I would not come here searching for H-Files/women in Guildford, but this is certainly a reasonable place to watch televised football when at the top end of the High Street.

This place is now called the Guildford Hotel

Good place to go and watch sport. there are also some nice beers to try at this place. It seems quiet a lot of the time, not a likely place to pull ladies. Mostly a male pub really

Is officially a sports bar. Tends to show football mostly. Also a good place to have a drink. It also has a unique selling point (business term for something that differs you from other businesses) in serving Murphy's Irish Stout, which is hard to fimd in pubs. Tastes like Guinness and very enjoyable!
