A quick visit on Sunday during my drive past, a lovely pint of real Ale. Still on the ball there...Plenty of customers and diners to boot. Saw a variety of dishes coming out, being delivered by the young waitresses. All i all a nice but, all to fleeting visit.

One of the best (consistently) pints of Abbot Ale ever, nice pub, just a bit noisy, but it is popular.

A good sized pub on the seafront just opposite the pier. The pub is a curious mix of old and modern it doesnt look particularly olde worlde but there are nonetheless a few wooden beams on the ceiling and some wood panelling reminiscent of an old hotel lounge.
The pub is split over three levels with the ground floor lounge being a traditional affair with a selection of tables, chairs and comfy sofas. A few steps brings you to a sort of intermediate level which has the bar counter and a few seats along one wall. This probably has the most character of all the areas in the pub, with some exposed stonework, old wooden floorboards and even a glimpse of an old stone wall behind the bar fixtures. A little bit of TLC wouldnt go amiss; on the whole its fine, but fixing the tears in the leather bench seating would be an improvement. More steps take you to an upper lounge with great views across the channel and even a small balcony which must be a great spot in warmer weather (not shown in above photo).
The food offering seems popular, probably as much to do with the pubs location as anything else, although we didnt try it ourselves on this occasion. From memory its fairly standard pub grub although there was also a large specials board. Bar staff seemed friendly enough. The only letdown was really some rather noisy kids running around, although to be fair it was a Saturday afternoon. Hopefully you wouldnt get this problem on an evening.
Beers on tap were all from Greene King, with their IPA, Abbot Ale, Old Speckled Hen and Hardys Hanson. Ciders were Blackthorn, Stowford Press and Aspalls Suffolk.

Went for sunday lunch .Never Never Never again .The whole lot was from a microw wave .I wish I had bought a 1.99 meal from Iceland that would have been better.Perhaps thats where they bought it from.

Went back to this hostelery as i said i would, and yes it wasn,t a fluke.with familly in tow and comments from friends we had reccomended,it was time for another try.We tried the soup/main meal special and were not dissapointed.homemade soup/cottage pie a rare treat, these days but welcoming and tasty to say the least.so was the real ale/s ??.pleasure to go back and will continue to do so,at this rate..So if a pub lunch is your thing, this is the place to go,and the view is just over the road,or balcony if you prefer..

Paid this hostelery a visit today lunchtime,The Barmaid/landlady was very friendly and polite as was the other Barmaid. My friend and i ordered our drinks which were on the usual good form for real ale/guiness.We had soup and a roll, for lunch which was well above average and not the watery variety one usually gets in the pub food line.Well done to the chef,we have decided too return to try further meals at a later date.If the soup is an indicator,it will be well worth the return, nice casual atmosphere, clean and pleasant surroundings.

A pleasant atmosphere; yes the food service is a little slow but the view from the balcony is great and the food ok.Greene King ales well kept.

Well, to be fair the food is above pub average... when it eventually arrives! Expect to wait for at least an hour, that is after you are permitted to order. Then, be extremely grateful for getting a meal at all. Any negative comments to the owners will result in an outrageous tirade of insults! Customer service totally appalling, and this veryfied over several visits, (one must be fair and subjective at all times!), On balance would advise to give a very wide berth!! Be warned!

After recently eatting at this pub I was most disappointed. The food took over an hour and a half to arrive, after having to ask a member of staff twice what had happened. No one bothered to apologise. The meal was ok but certainly wasnt worth waiting all that time for.
