White Hart Inn, Roydonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Nothing seems to have changed from my previous visit. No improvement on the beer front. The Abbot was over warm. The GK IPA, sadly, tasted like GK IPA. And the London Glory had run out but not been replaced. I can understand the lack of varying the range of ales here when the other two pubs in Roydon offer no competition with their uninspiring, and unchanging, range of beers.

A pub of two halves. One end resembles a restaurant while the other end of the bar is more pub-like.
Greene King run - so obviously GK IPA is served. Bonkers Conkers and London Glory (not often seen) completed the real ale offerings. They don't come cheap at £3.80 a pint.
A good varied range of food from £8 upwards is value for money. Good size portions and excellent taste.
Overall - not bad for a GK pub.

Very good quality food available here now. And the Abbot generally one of the best in the area. The patio area out the back is very pleasant to sit in.

Two of us had a meal here yesterday. We had to wait over an hour for our starters. When they arrived, my companion's soup was hot and tasty and served with a large piece of French bread and tiny balls of butter. My starter was rather too well done for my liking and a much smaller portion than I expected but tasty all the same. The main course fish seemed to have come out of a packet rather than from a fishmonger and battered in the kitchen. We dined on the inclusive menu that included a drink; I was told that the drink could be only half a pint of beer but the bill showed that a pint was cheaper than the wine served to my companion. While we were eating, another diner sent their main course back and I overheard the person being told that there was a new chef. All things considered a disappointing evening even though the young waitress was extremely pleasant.

A fabulous old coaching inn, open grate fire, gently worrn flagstones and plenty of old ships timber go to make for a great atmosphere. The pub has had a slightly chequred history for the last year or so through no fault of either the management or brewery. However now under new management (Jack, a familar face to most in the village) the pub is undergoing a complete rebuild/refurbishment and should be back to its old self and open for Christmas. Rumour has it that the chef is rather good and a 'gastropub' is to be expected. As long as they leave the flagstones alone it should be a great pub again soon. I'll look forward to grading it once it's open!
