One of the very few pubs right on the Downs Link. Its looking very tidy and more gastro now and the Badger beers are well kept. The only thing I think was missing on my visit was a guest ale from Sussex (Firebird, Hepworths, Kings, etc etc.).

Wow! What a difference the new Manager has made. The pub is looking fantastic and the food was brilliant.

The last time we visited the Bax was in February 2012 (different Manager) and we had such a mediocre meal we stayed away.

We were convinced to return in a large group (20ish) of friends and children for Sunday lunch. All of the meals were lovely and very generous portions. You could also order other meals besides roasts from the menu which was nice as some pubs are restrictive with this. There was a good selection of beers and wines and reasonably priced too.

The area next to the fireplace now has some cosy sofas (will be great in the winter) and the dining area inside looks really nice also. The car park and outside areas are being tidied up and improved. There is a children's play area and apparently plans to install tying up points for horses as the pub in on the Downs Link path.

In short, we had a very good experience and we will definitely be back!

Three real beers on, including Hobgoblin, all well kept and drinkable.
Food is really good, looking forwards to them lighting the fires for the cold evenings soon!
Will definitely be back.

Ive known this pub for 30+ years - its also known as the Master's Arms as masters from the nearby public school (and old boys) use it. Its fantastic!

Situated in a lovely rural setting. Ringwood Best and Wychwood Hobgoblin were in average condition. That's the good bits. If you want Food it is a total shambles. OK, it was Mothers day but if you book a table for 2 o'clock, you don't expect to be seated at 2.30 and then wait half an hour to be served. We had to return one meal as the Potatoes were hard.

Still as good as ever, lovely pint of Wychwood Dirty Tackle but the resturant was empty which put off eating in there not many pubs like this in the area so worth checking out

Just popped in for lunch on a Monday. A pleasant pub with two log fires burning. Adequate lunch menu which was good tasty fare. Beers included Wychwood Winters Troll, Hobgoblin, Ringwood Best and cider was Thatcher's Gold - yum yum! Worth a visit if you're in the area

Very lovely pub if walking up the South Downs Way and fancy stopping off to warm up. Food OK, not the best I've eaten but well priced. Only issue we had was only 1 person looking after the restaurant and bar, so service was a little stressed even though she did her best.

Great food and friendly staff. A few cask conditioned ales on offer as well, which if my memory serves me correctly, were pretty decent when I tried them! If you like good food, then give them a go.

Good if you are on the Downs Link path, either on foot or bike, as it is adjacent. The beer I had was well-kept (Harveys)and another on (out of three) was Jennings.

We pulled up with the kids on a summers evening and sat in the lovely beer garden. Small but delicious menu and excellent beers on tap. Friendly fast service in a quiet convenient location. Worth checking the opening times before going as the evening shift doesn't start till 6pm (worth the wait though)!.
