Great pub, quiet when we were there on a rainy day out of season but you can imagine it's heaving in the summer. Interesting theme items adourn the walls, food was great, beer good.

if you're looking for that Cornish pub experienced you remember as a kid - hidden down tiny lanes, climbing frames in garden, distant views over the sea, low ceilings, beams horse brasses, then this is the place you want... I imagine it gets very busy in season so arrive early, as we did and got a very comfortable table for our party of three adults and three older kids. Expect to pay a premium for the location, the main courses we had were better than expected and I'd definately return to eat when next in the area. Two watch outs - the beer was a lttle too warm, real ale should be served cellar temperature as opposed to kitchen temperature... and this was in April... The profiteroles were very dry and not worthy of the 5+ price tag, kids ended up leaving them. That said, the rib-eye steaks were one of the best tasted...

THE Best chips!!! Certainly not frozen on our visit, home-made, piping hot, crispy and delicious! We had a lovely lunch-time meal, and cannot fault anything really. Beautiful surrounding scenery.
My only comment is that the menu cheapens the experience..........cheap and tatty, time to get into this century!

We went to this pub whilst on holiday recently and we were totally disappointed. We entered via the family room which looked like a cramped and brightly lit school dining room. We went into the bar/lounge area with our 4 year old and were immediately directed back to this room which fortunately was full. I wouldn't have wanted to eat in there with chairs back to back when the rest of the pub is much more relaxing. When we saw the prices on the blackboard we definitely wouldn't have wanted to sit in the other room for these prices. The childrens options were the usual suspects so much that my daughter said "not that again mummy" when given fish fingers, chicken nuggets or spag bol as a choice. She had nuggets with a huge plate full or chips. No peas or veg options in sight. I have a child which loves good food so it's a shame nothing is on offer. She is fed up with nuggets and ice cream. Families are obviously not really wanted hence the back room. My lasagne was ok but dry with no bechamel sauce just a bit of melted cheese on top. My plate full of cheap frozen chips had two black ones led on top which you think would have been spotted by the person plating up. My husband had grey mullet in termpura batter with pea puree for around the 16. Tempura is supposed to be light but he said he had better in a local chip shop as it was heavy and the mullet flavour deadened. I wouldn't recommend a visit as many dishes between 15 and 17. Obviously the Rick Stein effect has happened as this pub thinks it can cash in on the tourist!! Not all children scream and run around so don't banish us to an annex. Isn't Jamie Oliver trying to get children to eat healthy food - it would be nice to get some healthy food from a public house for kids.

I always plan a lunch or evening meal at the Pickwick on my visits to Cornwall. The food is consistantly excellent and the friendly staff are always welcoming!!!

Food Glorious Food, What can I say, I've been to the Pickwick Inn more times than I'd care to mention. The food, wine and Company have always been exceptional. the Landlord and Lady are always on hand at the bar or around the pub, making sure you're happy and being looked after. My most recent meal was an amazing steak served with a suite of vegetables and delicious peppercorn sauce. Well worth a visit if you're down that neck of the country.

a lovely warm haven on a cold day - well worth crawling up those country lanes to get there. food is pretty expensive - bar prices match the evening restaurant amounts. Very well cooked food and generous portions of soup, mains and puds. coped well with an unbooked invasion of a dozen of us, although there was not much other custom in at that time.

Excellent food, fantastic sweets. The view over the estuary is lovely. Nice to see the landord and landlady so involved and determined to please. The staff were the best we found of all the places we visited. Can get busy, but worth the wait. Charming restaurant.

I visited the pickwick inn with my partner and our children along with another family we were on holiday with last year.On arriving we were put in the "Family Room" which was slightly cramped and made us feel a bit pushed out of the way to the rest of the pub. We all had a sunday dinner which to be honest would't have been out of place in a supermarket cafe, but to top it off they charged us 7.95 each and we all left as hungry as when we went in.On the plus side the beer garden wes good for the children with plenty for them to play on and the views where great. I don't know what thier bar menu is like but we most certainly will not be returning on our holiday this year.

Good food, friendly staff, and if it's warm enough to sit outside you are rewarded with an excellent view across the Cornish countryside.
The interior is a bit on the red side, though. And the pool table gets in the way a bit.
