Quite a nice pub although over-run with coke heads on friday /saturday nights, it has a nice beer garden though plenty of space seems to be the place to go and watch the football as well. One of the better pubs in Rayleigh.

There is no problem with the pub during normal drinking hours. BUT, once the bell goes on a Saturday (the very next minute) - you are approached by the meathead and told to leave.

Apart from this, no problem. Beer is tasty but is of course expensive when compared to the Roebuck down the road.

Worth a look but finish your pint before the bell!

ding ding - here comes the meathead!

Typical. No interest for years and then they go and redecorate right after I post up my semi-scathing review. Very nice inside now and the beer garden has also been attended too, with new tables and a redone patio area. Also, those grotty old window frames on the main entrance (road) side, which went rotten on a regular basis, have been binned. Much better. Everything else, including the beer, is as usual (not bad) for an average pub.

Aaah... 'The Paul Pry'! Many a Friday night over the 90's blah blah... Nice in the summer, in the garden. Tends to wax and wane in popularity as and when the landlord gives in and gives the fascia a lick of paint (not often) and I'm afraid JDW have scored a swift knee to the clackers with 'The Roebuck' down the road. Not sure about the DJ/Karaoke type shenanigans either, for that matter.
