£5 for a Stella as well mate. I like the beer garden though. Surely it should open before 5pm and get decent trade.

Opens at 5pm so dont go before 5pm. By a horrible traffic junction. The interior is nice as is the seating. The beer however cost £5.60 a pint. I guess its inflation.

A very friendly pub which is getting better and better. I'm not usually too keen on wine bar type establishments, but this one is the exception. A pint of Otter is regularly available and keeps me happy. Good chat around the bar or plenty space out towards the back if you want it quieter.

They've been doing mulled wine for the last few weeks which has smelled glorious.

I am speaking on behalf of a number of my friends, including myself, when I say that Rogues wine bar is probably the best venue to enjoy an evening socialising.

The owners are extremely accommodating and take a lot of pride in their venue, staff are friendly and helpful, the outside area is spacious, warm and comfortable come rain or shine and there's a decent variety of drinks and snacks, what's not to like? The bonus points: table service by the bar tenders when it's not too busy, and they will go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable, next bonus point: no power crazy door men!

I have to argue with previous reviews about it being a place for pretentious posers, erm, try and find a bar in Guildford where the customers aren't pretentious posers, it's Guildford! At least at Rogues there's no cat walk, no hassle, no dramas. Great for couples, great for females who don't want to be irritated all night by drunk rowdy men and great for groups of friends who want to actually hear their friends talk and generally have a good time. No complaints.

An ok bar, the best thing about it is the over 25 bit.
A lot of people with their heads up their own backsides is the downside.

I went to rogues for the first time last night, was very busy. Being an over 25s venue, the crowd were slightly older. A welcome change for a Guildford bar. Was very impressed by the garden, it was reminiscent of a tropical paradise complete with marquees and ample heating. There is a top tier which I am told has deck chairs for the summer. Table service was being offered too, which I thought was a nice touch.

As far as beverage selection is concerned, there was a decent amount of larger on offer ranging from Fosters to Peroni, with a couple of Ciders. Nicely kept though! Bar staff were competent and very friendly, and the Guvnor is entertaining

Great little bar more room at the back than you`d think, gets busy Fri/Sat nites.

Excellent bar, great atmosphere, a nice place to chill out, especially if the weathers good an you can sit outside! Table service is also offered here, and the staff are more than capable!

Bit of a hang out for poseurs, beer not bad but a fair way out of the town centre.
beershot - 15 Jun 2011 17:34
a couples bar...mainly an older crowd....bit like a tardis...small on the outside, but expands when you go round the back... on the periphery of the town centre and as such away from the trouble....
ales were ok...depends what you're looking for...or not as the case might be..

great venue i good hb TEA here seemed very small as you enter at the bar then headed round and it has a huge garden with flaming heaters it looks nice not just a bunch of patio furniture thrown in its the sort of place you can go on a date price was a little bit more than normal Guildford but did not mind due to the venue itself
thor5355 - 26 Sep 2010 00:44
Still a great pub, but there has been a bit of trouble here recently, including one rather nasty incident. Management might want to keep a closer eye on who they let in, especially the drug dealers that have started appearing. It would be a shame to let just a couple of oiks spoil the fun
spanky69 - 16 Feb 2010 16:28
Good pint of T.E.A.

Great bar, lovely garden and the staff aren't bad either...well apart from that Manager...

Hi! Felt compelled to leave a wee bit of praise for this place after having recently enjoyed their wonderful Open Mic night; I had a really great evening (Monday Nights) and thought it was well executed and very welcoming. The bar is very well laid out for live music and lends itself to perhaps bands? Haven't been aware of any recently it'd be great to see some!
Other than that the staff were very welcoming and service was top notch, can't wait for warmer weather and enjoy the garden a bit more. Great bar worth a visit or two I reckon!!
BeerDrinker6666 - 26 Feb 2009 14:16
I was a frequent visitor to the old Sanford Arms and didn't like the conversion to a wine bar, particular as the real ale disappeared. But it seems to have a new lease of life. It is a comfortable friendly bar with a good landlord and have Deuchar's IPA as a real ale. Live music some nights. I saw Serve Chilled play there and was knocked out. Impressive band in an increasingly impressive pub. I might have to resume my frequent visits!

Aleman you have been told so stand in the corner face the wall.
Ps pint in hand don`t forget
Beersupper - 30 Jul 2008 20:39
Its ok, I'm happy for there to be over 25's for pubs and bars.
anonymous - 28 Jul 2008 14:08
Landlord and lady always welcoming, as are staff. Nice atmosphere and lovely garden.
gtowngal - 28 Jul 2008 13:49
Aleman - quick note on the 'ageist' comment. The reason for the over 25's rule is to give the slightly older Guildford clentel somewhere to go with out the hassle of being surrounded by kids and the younger generation. There is plenty in town for the young folks; Bridge Street for one(make that several), so one pub out of several being 'Over 25s' is really not a crime. If it bothers you that much then go to Bridge Street - you'll feel right at home an you might even get a fight.
mooty123 - 24 Jul 2008 17:23
Can I be blatantly bias? This pub rocks - you know it, I know it, and your friends know it. Get down here now and enjoy Guildford's best beer garden and best beer. Live music nights, ranging from jazz, rock to contemporary pop. Hugely entertaing quiz night (returning in the Autumn!)and much more on the cards for the second half of '08. No food granted; but you can always order a pizza (as long as the barstaff get a slice.....)!! So what are you waiting for?!?!
mooty123 - 24 Jul 2008 17:09
One of the first pubs I ever went into. But it was the Sanford Arms back then.
beeronaut - 27 Jan 2007 19:50
Still an over 25's place as far as i know so means i cant go! Find places with such rules as very ageist
anonymous - 11 Dec 2006 13:08
Good for a late night drink.
couldwehaveaneel - 28 Oct 2006 11:22
Been an infrequent visitor to this place for the past four years; many staff have passsed through here as well as locals. But on a recent return visit i couldn't help but notice how much this place has gone to the dogs. Looks the same as four years ago so can't be a good thing - toilets are a disgrace and the wine selection poor. Looks to be devoid of any kind of live music events; something the place was famed for in the early days. Was a very quiet night when i visited - stayed for a couple of hours but failed to get busy! A real shame as this place could be so much more - the bewery should spend some money - oh and not forgetting the 'shaky' furniture! Poor.
back2u - 19 Oct 2006 16:48
Soon I'll be leaving this place after 4 and a half years of management- i'm off to Australia for some much needed 'me' time! Have enjoyed myself so much in my time here, and i hope the place continues to be popular in my absence. Big thanks to all the customers who have helped make this place what it is . You know who you are!
mooty123 - 7 Oct 2006 18:05
Good boozer. Just watch out for 'The Lawtonator'
anonymous - 17 Aug 2006 14:11

Have to agree with the comment below, pub was absolutely crammed on New Years eve, but, er, isn't that a good thing?! Atmosphere rocked with no reports of any 'boredom' on the evening, bargain prices too. Guess you could have gone to Auberge for 30 and bagged yourself ONE free drink.......
mooty123 - 7 Apr 2006 00:04
Went there on new years eve!! thought it would be fun but it was so packed I couldn't move! ruined my evening!! I was quite bored too!!
anonymous - 29 Jan 2006 00:31
Rogues is great place to meet and hang out. Great atmosphere with great wine and beer. If you want to drink fanta shots with your 16 year old mates for 2 quid go to Yates'. If you want an olde worlde pub with 3 real ales and no atmosphere go to a village. If you want a great pub with fantastic summer drinking with proper live music and a lively gang of fellow drinkers come here....10/10...!!!
stevesmith - 26 May 2005 23:46
Nice place to meet up with friends for a drink. I loved the garden, it is recommended on warm summery nights.
laci - 4 May 2005 19:09
Nice decor and good music. One problem - you may need to take out a second mortgage to get a round of drinks in! Garden is great though.
ben_the_melon - 28 Mar 2005 22:05
Typical Guildford, they turned a proper pub into a poncey yuppiehole.
Charles - 12 Oct 2004 22:54
A very lively bar situated in the right part of guildford, with a broad spectrum of live music(okay, it's all acoustic!) V. attractive bar staff and the bar manager does a wonderful job! Atmosphere always friendly and strangers always come back for another drink, ol' man pub there before was a waste of space..... over 25's policy great too, keeps out the riff-raff!( And check out the garden!!) A late licence beckons.......... o
mooty - 5 Jul 2004 14:57
This is at the end of my road and I prefered the Sandford Arms I have to say. Although having a wine bar there must have increased the value of my falt wouldn't you say?
mattleross - 26 Nov 2003 13:40
Its an over 25's bar where, shock horror, over 25's go!! Does the sign on the door not make it obvious enough? Yes the "mature set" do frequent there, im sure they'd much prefer Yates, if they weren't to OLD to get in! Isn't it funny that the people who do all the complaining are the same people in there EVERY weekend, can't be that bad after all can it?
The growler - 26 Nov 2003 12:49
A place where the mid life crisis set go to recapture their youth. 40yo men in tight "River Island" tops dj, whilst mture women show off all their bits.

Wooden interior so very noisy as the sound echos everywhere.

I thought the traditional English pub that was there before was far superior.
Paulo Rossi - 2 Oct 2003 10:15
Aren't they are doing well! Shame that they have turned what was once a nice local pub into a wine bar for the 'mature' set ... distasfully Guildford
a would be drinker - 27 Jun 2003 12:17
The most expensive pint of Stella in the south east....probably.
Stephen Smith - 17 May 2003 06:55
Rogues Wine Bar at the old address has now been demolished but we have moved to 58 Epsom Rd guildford(formally the Sandford Arm)Strictly over 25s and a great place to meet serving good selection of wines spirits and beers.Live music,DJs and great garden, are all features. Must try!!!!!
paul Messent - 1 May 2003 11:05
