One of my favourite pubs in town. Good choice, nice staff and mixed bag of customers. Prices top end of scale to some, but paying for a good pint is worth it.

Popular pub in a busy part of town. Beer range could do with an "uplift" but I usually have at least one pint in here. Very mixed clientele (theatre go-ers; clubbers; passers-by etc)
mcroyal - 18 Mar 2011 10:59
Excellent barstaff but very expensive avoid there are cheaper pubs around ie Tap N Tumbler
mcdrinkin - 3 Feb 2011 13:47
Not a bad pub but the beer selection had not changed much since my last visit , so I think the 'ever changing' policy is questionable. Flowers, GK zzzzzz.

Its a busy place in a lively spot so its o.k..

Traditional pub, hasn't changed for years. Usually very busy but sevice good. A decent selection of real ales. A big mixture of clientele, old , young and male and female. Not the sort of place for 18 year olds though which can only be a good thing. Highly recommended
davidchar - 5 Aug 2009 12:46
Good and changing selection of real ales. Friendly staff. Unpretentious pub in the style of Hogsheads 8-9 years ago. Go there!
Old_Todger - 16 Jun 2009 21:47
Shabby old pub, very close to the Theatre Royal and the Royal Centre. This means that it, and everywhere around it was heaving on Saturday as it was Valentines night. I've been coming in here for years and it never seems to change, which I think is a plus in this case. Had 4 ales on the bar. I had a pint of the Marston Moor Brewers Droop which was pretty good as usual. A pleasant oasis away from the Market square. Not at the very top level as Nottingham has plenty of great puibs, but well worth a visit if in the area.
ROBCamra - 16 Feb 2009 10:32
This place is awesome, it's a don't miss spot in a great location. The atmosphere is great, the beer selection is amazing and the FOOD is a major plus, especially the Chicken, Ham and Leek Pie. We loved the bar staff, especially Penny so if you see here say HI to her from Rick and Nicole and tell her to contact us.
rick081963 - 15 Nov 2008 01:39
Excellent City Centre pub which hasn't been continually revamped so as to be fashionable for a month.
In my many visits I've never had a bad pint unlike Glugg, so hard luck, try again.
Yes, it's a bit scruffy but it keeps attracting people who want a good pint in a good traditional pub atmosphere.
8100bob - 17 Oct 2008 18:30
Have had a great selection of beers on recently (as always) and as usual fantastic quality, i love it in there..... keep up the good work..... and don't worry langtrys your always going to get idiots complaining about the beer, surroundings and staff, don't take any notice, people who know there beer and want good service will always go to langtrys!
GOODPUBLOVER - 16 Sep 2008 17:56
Rudgate Well Blathered, Deuchars IPA, Ruddles County, Flowers IPA, Everards Tiger, Brains Bitter, Milestone Raspberry wheat beer (5.6%) and Mongrel, from Marston Moor brewery Im told that the recipe could be likened to Pedi from a similarly named brewery but the pumpclip announces Good beer, No Pedigree, haha! Semi-hexagonal bar (if thats poss?) surrounded by traditional seating. Not on my original list, but worth a look in.
trainman - 9 Sep 2008 12:19
Decent pub although not in the premier league of our selections on a Nottingham crawl. Good pint of the amusingly named Mongrel (I bet trainman will give some more details when he reviews!)
Tigerdrinker - 7 Sep 2008 21:54
Good grief. Another terrible evening in Langtrys. Beer warm and flat (again). Sent the first pint, Rudgate Viking back, replaced by Black Sheep, had to pay the 10p extra but this was even worse. What is the point of selling 8 beers if you cant keep 1 in good condition?. The bar staff know nothing about beer, all they care about is food at lunch time. Scrufy pub, crap beer. Sorry Langtrys, I aint coming back.
glugg - 31 Aug 2008 23:41
i miss langtrys. best pub in Nottingham.
cantonacantona - 3 Jul 2008 13:58
Fantastic Real Ale pub, great bunch of regulars in here, bar staff are very friendly and a great bunch of people you could class as one of your mates. Highly recommend this pub.
mcdrinkin - 19 Jun 2008 17:42
Former good pub well passed it's sell by date. Badly in need of a refurb (the toilets are disgusting). Boring choice of average quality beers and uninterested bar staff. Wake up Langtrys.
glugg - 6 Jun 2008 20:31
Personally I've never had bad service or a bad pint in here but the fixtures and fittings are a bit grotty but that doesn't effect the enjoment as its a place to drop in not stop in

nivramkram - 8 May 2008 10:50
Very grotty dirty pub paint peeling cob webs needs a good scrub.
9pm Saturday night one on the bar! After being stood there looking stupid for 5 minutes the lone barman goes and serves two women who just walked in? Boy did I have to bite my lip .Seen the lone barman leaving the side door 10 minutes later with mobile phone in hand ,hope he was off to phone for HELP.
The next time I will be going in this pub is when it ripped out & refurbished, looking at it, it will not be long.

oh my! what a gem of a little pub this is. we came to visit or daughter who's at university in Nottingham and came here for lunch and ended up staying a lot longer. They had Brains S.A on which i haven't seen for years! The food came quickly and was delicious and staff were knowledgable about the beers they served which is rare these days. let's just say i'll be going to visit my daughter alot more often!
anonymous - 21 Jun 2007 14:18
What a fantastic pub....The beer selection here is great, it has all of my favourites, and speaking with one of the(beautiful) and well informed bar staff, there is even more choice than i thought, as this pub can get micro brewery beers aswell!I look forward to coming here again....for both the beers and the smiling faces behind the bar.

I'm amazed at one of the recent comments on here. Its difficult to reconcile my perception of Langtry's with the potty mouthed, glass strewn hell that somebody experienced.
I visit Langtry's quite regularly at lunchtimes, in the evening and at the weekend. I have always found the bar staff polite, diligent and friendly. The pub is clean and tidy, with the staff making regular sweeps to clear away empty glasses and full ashtrays. Furthermore, there is a good range of beers and an excellent menu of food, all at reasonable prices for a city centre pub.
I can't think of a better pub in the immediate vicinity that offers such friendly & efficient service. I certainly will be going there again.

I have been browsing through reviews of some of my favourite pubs in the city and have come across a comment posted about langtrys that i feel i must comment back on,it is very unfortunate that these people had a bad experience at langtrys, as i dont know anyone else who has(and being a drinker around town i know plenty of people that go to langtrys regularly for food and drink), i must jump to langtrys defence as this is one of the friendliest pubs in town with excellent service, i have taken my family to eat at langtrys on numerous occasions and the food and service have always been top quality.i am not sure what happened on this day with these people, but from my experiences here and im sure many others would agree, langtrys is a great pub.
anonymous - 28 Mar 2007 11:51
What a shame to see a once friendly and cosy pub go rapidly down hill. Whilst having 'lunch', my friends and i were appalled at the language of the bar staff who were less than accomadating. The place was covered in glasses and in all the time myself and my friends were there not one person came to clear our table. It was a real dissapointment. The beer choice was good but if only the staff didn't leave you waiting so long for it you might enjoy more of it. I will not be going here again.
anonymous - 25 Mar 2007 21:29
This is a fantastic pub, great beer, good food, great bar staff, fast and friendly service. Katrina and the redhead are exceptional barmaids. Only complaint is that at times they do seem to be understaffed. If you are, like me a drinker of the real ale i would reccommend this pub for you.
anonymous - 28 Nov 2006 00:48
Great place - nice beer e.g. Bombardier, London Pride and Tanglefoot. Generally speaking, good service too. I love the place. My only criticism is that it has picked up a few stray jakey scutters following the closure of The Turf Tavern next door, but you can't hold Langtry's responsible for that. Anyway, I'm sure it won't be too long before they get 'emselves barred.
anonymous - 20 Oct 2006 14:03
Not a bad place, plenty of character but it needs to mix it up a bit more. A few event evenings - pub quiz, an occasional band etc. wouldn't go a miss.
anonymous - 1 Sep 2006 08:44
I agree, this pub is definately worth a visit, especially if you are visiting the theatre, i have nipped across many a time during intervals because i know the service is fast and friendly, and the beer is good!!!!!!
GOODPUBLOVER - 22 Aug 2006 09:30
huh? i don't know what everyone's talking about? the pubs has 8 real ales on everyday! I can't think of another Nottingham city centre pub boasting that! the staff are always smiling and very easy on eye. It's a great pub and very lively on weekend nights. Most certainly worth a visit.
cantonacantona - 21 Aug 2006 17:23
Used to be a great boozer - lively and friendly all the time. Sadly times have changed, the place now seems to be happy simply catering for grumpy old men. Avoid at all costs (unless you fancy a whinge about how youngs 'uns today have no respect & how it weren't like this in my day, blah, blah blah...yawn).
mungojerry - 11 Aug 2006 06:42
Am pleasantly impressed.
Been in now at lunchtimes for a couple and the atmosphere is entirely different.
Great barmaid in Katrina and very pleasant on the eye too !
If only it could be the same at the weekends !
mr_mojo_risin - 6 Jun 2006 14:37
Couldn't agree more. Its like a pensioners iron lung in there.
anonymous - 1 Jun 2006 08:24
Crikey, what a bum-hole in the arse-crack of this great and lively city centre.
Full of free bus-pass wielding depressionados dribbling into their halves of mild.
The decor is in the "knackered old pub" stylie and so is everything else.
Save it by knocking it down and building a multiplex cinema somebody please.
algis100 - 31 May 2006 16:10
Can't agree with the previous comments more.
Drink in this place on a regular basis and the worst time of the year to go is now.
Why can't these amateurs stay at home sipping their cocoa instead of getting in the way and turning proper pubs into some kind of dodgy social club for incontinent know it alls ?
Maybe there is an argument for euthanasia after all ! !
mr_mojo_risin - 12 Dec 2005 08:47
Not a bad pub, but certainly one to avoid in the Christmas season. The cheap beer wide ranging menu seems to attract an extraordinary amount of coffin dodgers during the day & once-a-year amateurs on their office party in the evening.
anonymous - 11 Dec 2005 11:20
Good little boozer, although have heard nasty rumours about the management moving to another pub up north.
That could explain what seems to be a decline in the interest paid to this particular drinking house, which is a pity as it's got massive potential.
Maybe the management are taking too much on !
anonymous - 24 Aug 2005 09:59
Great beers, always fine range of ale.
Can't agree about the barmaids, they are always friendly and helpful. Especially the American lass, she is always keen to indulge in Anglo-American relations.
I can speak with authority on that one !
Go on lads...well worth it !
anonymous - 5 Aug 2005 12:57
Had sum good booz here..
Hav laughs wiv sum of them but sum of the others are obsessed wiv trying to get off wiv the barmaids.
Can be sad sumtimes.
anonymous - 3 Aug 2005 09:41
Excellent boozer, good range of beer & mental bar staff
anonymous - 1 Aug 2005 21:02
Decent boozer with good well kept beers. The place seems to be frequented by nutters obsessed with Badgers....that aside well worth a visit !
daz - 9 Jun 2005 11:31
Fantastic pub with a good range of well kept, quality ales and warm, friendly bar staff. I fully agree with earlier comments, you have to know the right time to go in to avoid the cackling vodka swilling jakey-harridans. Brilliant place to have an after-work pint & chat though.
mungojerry - 8 Jun 2005 20:24
Cracking boozer ! ! Always guaranteed a warm welcome and a great selection of quality ales. Brilliant in-house entertainment from some of the most colourful characters you could find. Exactly as a boozer used to be and should be ! !
mr_mojo_risin - 7 Jun 2005 13:48
Not a place I like to dwell in, despite the range of beers. Can't put a finger on it.
palmwinedrinkard - 2 Dec 2004 15:40
It's called "Langtry's", not "The Langtry". Good choice of real ales, though.
anonymous - 26 Nov 2004 15:35
ponder, ponder....that's what I do when I enter as such a good variety of ale. Best tasting 80/-ever had.
(brew master) - 16 Nov 2003 16:24
A good pub for a quick visit. Too busy to be suitable for a long night
Frank - [email protected] - 5 Sep 2003 15:05
this place sells awseome ales that are literally central heating for tramps. quality old style pub
sparkys magic piano - 3 Mar 2003 16:40
A Hogshead pub that is near to the Cornerhouse complex. Often busy
