I once played pool in this local's pub. When the sandwiches were brought round one of my younger teammates saw this browny orangey stuff (real beef drippin and jelly)on one the sarnies and thought it was marmalade!!

I remember this from my student days. Back in the late nineties when I didn't have to work for a living and "recession" meant something that happened to yer dad's hair, this pub was North Lenton's equivalent of the (superior) Grove which sits at the end of Castle Boulevard. The Peacock is in a rough-ish part of town but used to get a decent student crowd - looks like the fantastic breakfasts are still going. Student memories...
