I'm sorry not to have posted on this before now, but The Swan is demolished & flats are being built, & it hadn't been open for going on two years or so. It's a shame to lose a pub, I suppose, but I can't say I ever frequented it, largely because of a negative impression about its beer & 'types'... The King's Arms is a hard act to follow, anyhow, ditto The Harefield, so why bother going elsewhere in Harefield?!?

Still boarded up and it looks like it may be terminal. I guess there's a pub co out there somewhere wondering whether the pub is worth saving. I hope so as it's a nice looking historic old pub in a nice location opposite Harefield Common.
|
Now closed and boarded up due to drug problems and the lack of a renewal of licence.

Despite the last 2 comments, I agree with the majority here. NOT a nice place. Dirty, full of chavvy types and certainly no proper beer. There are far better places to visit. I would suggest any potential visitor's do so...

After reading some of the comments I first thought I had been in the wrong pub on my last visit. So when we pulled up we looked at the windows, well blow me down I could see through them, apart from the etching and they are real not transfers, about a grand each, yes the bar might be a bit spit and saw dust but unlike a lot of posh pubs there were no cobwebs, dust or dirt anywhere. Beer was excellent, right temp full of bubbles and a clean glass. Barmaid was chirpy and polite and quick, never waited for a beer once. All I can think is sour grapes by other pubs who cant be doing business or punters who have been thrown out. As last comment there is trouble everywhere but never seen it here....so ignore the losers who complain and pop in for a pint

I drink in this pub from time to time and I'm not a violent thieving chav and I have to say the bar staff are extremely friendly and will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I don't drink beer but I've never heard a bad word said about it, on the contrary actually. Best pint of Stella in the village has been said and as for trouble.... Trouble happens everywhere. Cricket Club, Kings Arms, Horse & Barge and in every town/city/village. As for the windows - they are etched so that could be why you can't see through them because they looked gleaming the last time I was in there. I think it's a nice little pub.

S**t hole, believe me. Death is nicer than a visit here.

A glance at the filthy (you REALLY do need to see them) windows from outside should be enough to warn you off. Full of tattooed Harefield Council & Benefit Poncing Thiefs and Wanabees. Nice in a way since it retains the filth that doesn't bother other decent and more rounded establishments. Bit like football, ban the game and the filthy scum visit High Streets, rather than the cages that are Football Stadiums., NOT A PUB - More like a boxing ring. DON'T EVER GO THERE.

Awful & disgusting. OIKS are welcome, decent upstanding individuals AVOID. It's a dangerous place
|
when a 17 year old says that the pub is full of kids one has to ask, this pub is a hang out for the local delinquent criminals, if you want to watch a good rowdy fight then go here, if not then avoid it at all costs. The ale is bad and the owners nasty and unaccomodating. It is a hang out for all the local asbo teens.
|
Not a nice place. A "nest" for the delinquent, violent and immature Harefield Crew. Sad & disappointing. No real ale, atmosphere or well being. Avoid this place if you are decent & honourable

Mick the landlord is a great guy and as a regular I can personally vouch for the fact that the lines are cleaned at least once a week. Best pint of stella you'll find in the village and the pool table is second to none in the borough. Keep up the good work Mick!
|
For the record, if you didn't clean lines for a month you wouldn't be able to pour a pint, it would be froth. I know for a fact that the lines were done the first time by the publican a week after he took over the pub. As for the violence, the area has lots of chav gangs which are a problem, very simple and very common people, but the way the pub is operated ensures the safety and wellbeing of customers. Funny how both the negative comments are anonymous.

Found out the other day that the publican asked for for help from a local guy so that he could clean the beer lines from the barrels a full year after he has taken over the pub. He has not cleaned the lines during this period. Is it just me that finds thid disgusting or what?
