Having worked in East Grinstead for a number of years now the Dorset Arms has always been at the forefront of my mind when it comes to a night out. Be it for the comedy nights, the good food or the buzzing pub atmosphere and an ice cold lager (or golden ale in the summer) . However the latest manager has let things slip slightly and although the pub is still good it wasn't great! Moving forward the new young man in charge seems to be whipping things back the how they should be, with great ales, a wide selection of standard and premium lagers and a new chef making the eyes and mouth water with the latest menu launch proving a fantastic success. Add to this the array of specials being advertised and you almost don't want to leave until you have tried everything... I know I don't anyway! Bring on the good old times we have all had at the Dorset Arms as if things continue great times are ahead and I will definitely be there to see them happen

New owners and a makeover has turned this tired old pub into a more modern 'open plan' high street bar / restaurant. Menu looks mostly standard fayre, but boasts local produce. Worth a try. Beers were ok. I'd go back there. Good size car park at the rear.

Large, slightly tatty, town centre pub. Had good pint of of Abbot and some reasonable food. Bar manager seems professional and friendly.

Jayson and his wife have moved to another pub in town, The Broadway.

Hi I have never been into this pub as i live in Australia. BUT I have known the owner Mr Jayson Hodge for more than 20 years and would like to tell you a little about him. He is a good and honest man. If there is a problem tell him and he will fix it. I have no doubt that he and his wife will make this hotel into one that is a cut above the rest. I wish Jay and his wife nothing but the best and hope to one day walk into this fine establishment. Take care Jay.

Bears the dread hand of a corporate owner.Only two real ales on when I visited: Geene King's IPA and Abbott. It was okay but I wouldn't rush back.

Gained much of the custom from The Ship, further up the road. The pub can get very busy and a great atmosphere follows. Even when quiet, you still feel comfy at the bar. Three or four real ales are usually on and mostly of good quality but sometimes suffer from lack of sales. Staff are pleasant but sometimes can be a bit lacking in the attentive department. Best of the town centre pubs and beats the Ship on price nine times out of ten.
Bad points. Only one malt whisky. No ginger beer for those wanting a ginger beer shandy. Can be very smokey.

Great friendly pub, with new management, and friendly staff. Prices are one of the cheapest in the town. CAn get busy when the football is on, but other than that it's great.
