I can only think this place has been brought down by some of its less-than-genial customers from the very mixed surroundings.
A few years back it looked like it was going to take off as a place for good food and drink, but seems it never quite made it, and began the slide, sadly.

Crowthorne is crying out for a really good pub serving great food. The Prince could be it - but currently way off the mark. No atmosphere, staff not trained to even know what wines they sell and the food looks awful. This pub has the potential to be a great spot but currently does not appeal at all.

I prefer not to frequent this place but when the in-laws were down for a few days, they wanted to treat us to a meal in here. Our party of 7 sat down, bought ales and a bottle of wine and spent a while perusing the menu under the full gaze of the gruff, young man behind the bar. Having all made our choices, I went to order the food, only to be told they had no steaks or fish, which pretty much rules out half the menu. I did ask if prawns were included in their definition of fish, only to be given a what can only be described as a "No. Don't be so stupid, you th*ck b@sta@rd" look Why oh why didn't you tell us before we spent 15 minutes deciding? No apologies so we left and went to Dom Beni's round the corner On a previous visit, I went after a much heralded re-opening and a front page article in the local rag announcing the arrival of their 3D TV. Maybe it's changed I thought. So I invited a chum over from Camberley to watch the big match in there. The TV was broken though. Never fails to disappoint, although we did have nice chat with John Gorman Pub is poorly laid out and there is also a very stereotypical, drunken Scot wearing tracksuit bottoms in there. Always on a mobile or smoking right next to the door on Dukes Ride I can no longer find any positives to this pub. The staff appear rude and ignorant to all but the most hardy of regulars. Such a shame. Crowthorne deserves a decent pub but the British Legion continues to be the best place to enjoy a pint

Visited at lunch time on a soggy grey February day, this is a large imposing pub situated on the corner of Crowthorne High Street. The interior suggests this pub has seen better days. The two ales on offer were instantly forgettable. Before accepting our food order the friendly young barman mentioned by the previous reviewer, checked a hand written note to ensure that our menu choices were still available. As these were fish & chips x2 and a mixed grill this was surprising as the pub had only just opened. This was delivered after a long wait, heavily overcooked. My dark brown fish & chips would have benefitted from safety goggles for shatter protection. Not worth complaining in this kind of cheap but cheerless pub.

Fairly quiet pub on my visit. Friendly young barman - apparently being trained, let's hope the trainers don't train out his natural approach. 4 beers on, Youngs, Hogs Back TEA, Broadside and Old Speckled Hen. Our group tried the first 3, but all served too cold. All also pretty lacking in condition, but all at thr end of the barrel. New casks were better, but serving Young's Bitter with a tight head - no! So much potential, but if they serve the beer a 1 or 2 degrees warmer, don't beat the bejasus out of it in the line and have a slightly more exciting range (why do pubs insist on selling boring tasteless Greene King beers when half the pubs in the area sell it - often badly-kept - anyway?) then the potential could be fulfilled. At 2.71 my Youngs was decent value, however. Not sure this pub knows it's target market, but if it can appeal broadly it must do better on the beer quality front.

Pub is dirty, the manager doesnt care about the place or the people that visit, all he seems interested in is drinking himself silly at the end of the bar. Its a shame i only live around the corner, but refuse to use the place while its like it is. Iv been told by the staff theres a new manager taking over in a few weeks, maybe i will give the place another go then, i just hope that he/she cares about the place as much as the people of Crowthorne do. So heres my tip AVOID untill the new manager takes over.

Nice friendly staff. Food inexpensive, (you do in this instance get what you pay for!!) Mostly brought in brakes type thing. Interior could do with updating, furniture and decor tired.

The Prince has always been a regular Friday lunchtime venue and we have been going on and off for the past year. We have always been very pleased with the service until recently. The past couple of times we have been it has not been particulary busy and we have been told that food will take approx 20 minutes. We always have to check as we are on our lunchbreaks. After about 30 - 40 minutes we have to start chasing and are told its on its way. In the end we have to get the food to be wrapped in foil and take it away. The staff are never apologetic about it and never give an explaination. I think if this only happened the once then it would be ok but it has happened a couple of times now and I think this is unaccpetable. Another complaint is that it is freezing in there. They have a couple of open fires but don't always light them. We all have to sit huddled in our jackets.

Not bad. A little bit too new and shiny looking for my liking, but decent enough. Seemed to have good selection of real ales.. Was in garden and was impressed with barman clearing tables asking if I'd like another and fetching it out for me

Interesting spectrum of customers, with a rather different feel to place depending whereabouts along the bar one is standing. Had a very pleasant lunch-time pint of Thwaites Wainwright, though.

Quiz nights on Tuesday and Sunday evenings. Food is generally good. Normally three real ales available which are well kept.

The Prince has the best ambience of any pub I've been into. Good food, good service, very friendly staff, comfy furniture and choice quiet music. Also, as Coppers15 pointed out, it is just down the road from an excellent kebab van. I love the Prince!!!
