I saw my 14 year old cousin in there with his mates. He goes to King's. Enough said!

In response to 'donrens' comment as of 14 Feb 2005 22:27 : You're a proper crank, bo' selecta!

I used to live near by for a while. Great pub in the Summer, used to sit outside with my mates on nice evenings. Great place to unwind and great to add on your pub crawl round the village. Nice size pub and a good crowd.

Complete dive full of spoilt private school kids of 16/17 who couldn't get into a decent pub. As has been said, not the kind of place you'd want to spend your evening if you've started shaving.

Thought that you might like to be made aware of the (ammended) Finch's anthem, to be sung on the bus from the Raz every friday.
Hey you! Do you remember me? We used to go down Finch's after school! And we indulged in very little ECA activities, We were particularly cool.
Oh, Monday Razza, Tuesday Purple, Finch's on a Friday night! We got Eight Bells on Wednesday, Litten Tree on Thursday, Finch's on a Friday night! (with you)
(2nd chorus, occasionally sung)
Oh, Monday Quiz Night, Tuesday Karaoke, Finch's on a Friday night! We got House League on Wednesday, Have a w**k on Thursday, Finch's on a Friday night.......with you!

Went on a Saturday afternoon. We sat outside as it was a nice day. Inside was dead really. The food was really nice but on the dear side, but you have to expect that being Wimbledon Village. I imagine it to be quite chaotic on a Friday and Saturday night but a nice place to come for lunch during the day.

amo finchare. nihil declaro sed amo finchare. Recedite, plebes! Gero rem imperialem. 'heus, hic nos omnes in agmine sunt!' dixi. Cecilus, 'nihili est,' dixit, 'in vita priore ego imperator romanus fui!' finchens coolum est.

'optima taverna'*

KING'S KING'S KING'S,the central friday night friday night out, best finch in the world, hawey! Come and have a go, once you've had a finch experience you'll never go back, finching is the best hobby a man could hope to have; you have been blessed with a wine bar the like of which has never been seen before. FINCH'S ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. FINCH'S FINCH'S FINCH'S FINCH'S FINCH'S FINCH'S FINCH'S FINCH'S. The question on everyone's lips is: Is there anywhere better to spend a friday night... (the answer being no). Nonne optimus taverna est? [KING'S!!!!!!!!!]
|
Well what can i say? KINGS KINGS KINGS, it really should be King's rather than Finch's wine bars because this is the haunt for 6th formers and old boys of the local public school on the weekend. Normally wild nights with plenty of booze and dancing ensue, everyone else really should join in. Dead during the week and definetly not worth a visit - i cant even comment on the food despite my frequent weekending there - However it is the best place to be on a friday or saturday night in the village especially considering it is open until 12 and nowhere else worht its salt is. The staff are great especially the landlord, and don't knock the bouncers - Cecil and Simon may seem like great overgrown shreks on the outside but inside they are really fluffy bunny rabits. Donit knock the Finch until you have tried it on a friday.....

Looks like an airport lounge, full of chavs on a friday, utterly desolate during the week.

get here during wimbledon fortnight. the best place to party and easily the best run place in the village. tons of people, but not a long wait for a drink. a must-see!!!

Excellent place, every friday night, kings kings kings
Big Man - 17 May 2004 23:03 |
I agree with Ben (20 Jan) that the food is less-than-great. We had lunch on 29/2 and both dishes were rather dry and flavourless. It was the only place in the Village that wasn't packed on a Sunday lunchtime....and it's easy to see why.
MarkW - 3 Mar 2004 00:45 |
finches is classic wimbledon village. be warned we're all quite young in there, but it's great if you want to dance but you're not up for going to a club. good atmosphere, and don't knock the bouncers, cecil's classic.
mace debater - 16 Feb 2004 11:12 |
i certainly had a good time there on my last night in england, and many other occasions - even while working. cheers mick and sarah!!

Used to do great food, but the menu has really gone down hill recently. Can get very busy on the weekend evenings but is quite nice place to chill on Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
Ben - 20 Jan 2004 10:13 |
dont listen-this place is great need to tighten up on id but really fits in with village atmosphere. 3 pounds slightly obsesive but once ur in u cant miss the wimbledon crew
laura anne - 3 Dec 2003 13:40 |
They only make money off the late licenses and music. The place is a ghost town during the week. Feel free to pay 3 to enter if you want to get abused by the troll-like bouncers and pay 3.10 for off lager. There are too many teenage mingers as well!!
Finchssucks - 28 Nov 2003 09:51 |
Have spotted a few page three chicks sitting outside on weekends enjoying a pint.... say no more!
Peter & Todd - 13 Jul 2003 16:02 |
Is going to be the place to be this year during the tennis! Excellent New Steak House Menu and the best outdoor furniture in the Village! Thursday night DJ plays excellent70's & 80's tunes.
Kevin - 6 May 2003 15:48 |
Not bad. Still full of posh totty but is really good on Friday & Saturday night if you want an extended drink & boogie! Not worth bothering during the rest of the week.
FoxyChick - 17 Apr 2003 19:37 |
Under new management, greatly improved.Yummy menu & child friendly during the day.Top music (DJs) on fri & sat nights, best party atmosphere in the village!!
Sandra - 16 Jan 2003 15:49 |
Also does the same food as the D&F but more expensive!
Clare - 14 Sep 2002 12:16 |
Pretty dull place. Staff uninterested in serving anyone, even when there are only two people to serve! Is owned by the same people that run/own Dog and Fox in the village, and you'll see by most comments to that pub the reason why no-one bothers to go there
