Izaak Walton, East Meonback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
A bit more down to earth than Ye Olde George - this has pool table, darts and football on TV.
3-4 real ales and I had a couple of Ringwood Best Bitter - which was exceptional.
Decent village boozer.

We were here July 26th 2011, as B&B guests. We found the food and drink quality really fine, the atmosphere in the evening however felt more like a youth hostel than a pub. But the people running the place are professionals: quick, good en fairly good humoured. B&B-accommodation is superb!

Unfortunately 2 of the 3 real ale pumps were out of action on my recent visit. The Ringwood was fine though. Very civilsed type of place it seems to cater for the older customer who likes to go out for a meal at lunchtime. Maybe things get wilder in the evenings though I suspect not! I was there about 2pm and all the tables in the eating half of the pub were taken. The drinking end was much quieter. A nice pub all round. A pity the weather was not good enough to encourage us to sit outside as the garden looked nice as well.

2 Sharps' and a Ringwood on tap today. Food is standard pub stuff - nothing pretentious and just what we wanted.
Pub is split in half with the dining end having an air of a tearoom and the drinking end with sofas and a pool table. We sat in the sun in the excellent garden which has a trampoline and a wendy house if you like that sort of thing.
A sign in the bar indicated that a leaning towards families meant a 'no swearing' regime was in place. Family friendly but not a screaming-child sort of place.

Two Ringwood bitters on and also London Pride. The pub seems to specialise in food (I think I was the only customer not eating). There's a pool table (covered when I visited) and also, rather unnervingly to those of us who like a quiet life, a juke box (luckily not being used when I was there) and a games machine (ditto).

Great pub with good reasonably priced food. Unusually for a country pub it was light and airy inside on a sunny late Autumn day. A pint of cloudy Ringwood "49er" from the end of the barrel, was changed for Fullers "London Pride", without, my having to ask. Top marks for service, as with only one person in the kitchen, the food came quickly, despite being cooked to order. This pub is one of those that have an arrangement with East Hampshire District Council, to open their tiolets to the general public during opening hours, which is a great boon to walkers!

A lovely place. Clearly recently refurbished with a focus on food, with half laid out as a dining area, although I'd be equally happy to sit in the bar (sofas and tables) and drink or pick at the bar menu. Good beers, an interesting wine list, and food that's interesting without being obscure. The two brothers who run it look as if they may have some acquaintance with the enjoyment of food and drink.I took my Mum and she went back independently. Recommendations don't come any higher.

The Izaak Walton is under new management apparently, & what a great pub they have. They cater for the more cultured of people. Speaking of catering the chef is the owner & he has been in the catering game for yrs. I usually make it a rule NOT to eat pub grub but amazing this is not just grub it's REAL food, REAL pub food that we all have been waiting for a return to our pubs for yrs. Gone are the days of sent in frozen microwavable lasagna, chilli and scampi all served with frozen chips & limp side salad & in with the fresh food, food cooked with a passion, the love of food. The beer is great & the Izaak Walton sells a good selection of wines too so much so I wanted to try it all in the one day, but held back and returned the next for more. Ambiance: The decor is good, an at home feel, not a London wine bar feel. The garden is nice with a BBQ just waiting for the british summer to arrive. The staff are friendly and you just feel welcomed at all times. Amazing, well done, the management definitely know their stuff,& I will definitely be returning & very soon.
