Old food orientated pub. Friendly staff. Didn't eat but the beer (King Bitter) was fine.

Nice pub in attractive countryside. It's next to an A-road but felt a lot more welcoming than most road-side inns. Mixture of locals and passers by. 3 or 4 real ales: the two I tried were in good condition and from small breweries. A mixture of dining and drinking with a cosy atmosphere and friendly service. There was an open fire going when I visited in December.

Whilst revisiting old childhood memories of the area with my brother, we looked in for a quick pint. Had a nice atmosphere.

A nice interior and beer garden tucked away around the back. Four ales on offer and the food was very nice. My only gripe would be that the food was fairly slow in arriving (about an hour), although admittedly the serving staff warned us when we ordered, it was a Sunday lunch and they were completely full, so perhaps I should be more patient! Overall, a very good option if you're in the area.

After searching for somewhere to eat and drink, having spent the day on the coast, we stopped by because the pub looked so attractive. What a good decision!!! Friendly staff and very welcoming. I had the Haddock and chips - which at 11 needed to be pretty special - and it was!! And my wife had Duck Confit which again was excellent.
Great selection of ales - I had Dark Star Best, Horsham Bitter, and Arundel Gold, all were absolutely perfect!!
Will make The Cricketers my first choice when in the area - just wish it was closer to home - may have to consider moving!!

Visited with rentaquote who forgot to mention friendly bar staff and excellent dessert!
In fact we loved the place so much on Saturday evenng that we came back on Sunday for lunch in their lovely garden.

Charming traditional roadside pub with low beamed ceilings and nice garden. Great beer selection featuring Horsham bitter, Betty Stogs and Yellow Hammer. Decent food too (served weekday lunchtimes and evenings, and right through from 12-9pm on Saturdays and Sundays). This lovely pub deserves to be a lot busier.
The Cricketers was once owned by John Wisden, founder of the Wisdens cricketing almanac.

An attractive white painted pub under the South Downs in good walking country. We came here on a mid week Wednesday lunchtime, celebrating a family birthday:a gathering of mums and toddlers were in a little room to the side, the main bar housing a pleasant mix of tweed wearing locals and day trippers like us. According to my reliable sources, the pub has a good reputation for beer and food:standards need to be high so close to the organic and motoring heaven that is Goodwood. In a cold winter, one craves hearty grub such as suet and dumplings: my steak and kidney pudding had all the comforting elements that one can desire in a meal, and my wifes lamb stew with dumplings was similarily bounteous. The burgers were impressive, and the (stolen) chips were memorable. I was pleased to see a beer from WJ King of Horsham on the bar-I used to love K& B , and have been impressed with some of Hepworths Ales, especially Prospect in bottle: I am yet to try the third of the diaspora- Weltons. Horsham Best Bitter is a pleasant session ale, with a satisfying straight forward bitterness, and a hint of smokiness. I could imagine an enjoyable evening holed up in here with this ale. Also on display was Betty Stoggs from Skinners of Cornwall, however nostalgia and a smaller carbon footprint won the day(quite ignoring the fact that wed travelled through three counties to get here) Dogs (and toddlers) welcome, and there looks to be a good garden at the back. We liked it. 8.5/10

This is one of my favourite pubs and whenever I'm in the area visiting a lifelong friend we always come here for lunch. Excellent food especially if Lobster is on the menu, reasonably priced too, good choice of well looked after beers. Its good to sit outside in summer and just listen to the birds and country sounds.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Went there this weekend after a very long walk from Houghton way and have never been more happy to get to a pub. The weather was amazing and so was the place. Very friendly staff and helpful staff. Some really nice ales and cider. Favourite being the Arundel ale. The food was absolutely perfect for what we wanted. Probably the best sandwich Ive ever had, anywhere. Can highly recommend the bacon and brie sarnie. Thought it was very reasonably priced but then I am used to London prices. All in all one of the best pubs Ive been to. 9/10. God I wish I was there now in the sun.

Good pub with good beers. The food was very good, if a little pricey, but there was plenty of it. The garden setting, with some areas decked over for tables and chairs, is very beautiful. The whole garden is bordered by mature woodland, and I could have cheerfully spent the whole day there, sampling the beers and watching the sum move round.
Worth a visit.

Recently undergone complete makeover, whilst still retaining the village drinkers pub atmosphere. Excellent food & very good real ales from micro-breweries

If you have a meal whilst playing skittles, chances are you'll need another one later, as the portions aren't overly generous, although tasty. Having said that, a good pub with friendly atmosphere and a lovely skittle alley.
