Having not visited since the change of ownership last year we dropped by Friday last for a quick drink. Ended up staying for couple of hours chatting with the new owners, who were welcoming and good fun. The fish'n'chip supper, which was especially good value with the complimentary pint, was thoroughly enjoyed. They've done a great job with the decor and the pool table is a welcome addition.

It is noticeable that the below comments are old and refer to the previous pub owners of the Castle Grove in Chobham !
The new owner intended this pub to be a friendly, good old local pub but forgot their promise, a great disappointment, it is run in a very unprofessional & lazy way.
When we recently visited, the landlady, a young surly lady was deeply engrossed with her boyfriend at the bar and insisted they were closed and that we must leave at only 10.10pm on a Sunday evening.
From here we went to the Sun in Chobham High Street which welcomed us.
How does the Castle Grove management intend to sell beer and make a profit if they are not prepared to welcome and serve customers ?
This was not the first time we experienced an unprofessional welcome at the Castle Grove under the new owner, the first time the surly landlady was more interested in her laptop than the clients and another time spent more time chain smoking in the garden than serving.
We also previously learned from this Landlady that she managed to alienate an entire housing estate just up the road from the pub with her bad attitude which she seemed quite proud of.
Why do poor mannered, inexperienced people think they can run pubs ?
What a shame, this pub should be good, it has a nice garden, has great potential if only the right owners/management were running it as in the past (Brian and wife), hope this changes soon when the Brewery sees their poor low profits !!

We came here after being for a long walk. The service was impeccable, the beer great and the little one had a great time in the park. Genuinely a 10 point

What a shame we booked a table with a very lovely gentleman for three o'clock today.

It was to be a celebratory meal as my 16 year old had just passed his GCSE's.

The whole experience was ruined by a small minded local who had obviously had too many Guinness's.

Despite advertising as a child friendly venue our children who were sitting at the table were shouted at by this ignorant fellow, and despite ordering our food we felt we could no longer stay to eat it. My apologies go to the fantastic staff and other regulars, the dinner did smell lovely and i'm sure they realise they missed out on the revenue.

Maybe Guinness man should have foot the bill or perhaps stayed at home.

Just shows how one man ruin a pub!!

What a great find! Very welcoming little pub. We had been looking on here for pubs in this area and first tried the red lion about a mile away and what a mistake that was. Being such a wonderful day we took a little detour to the Grove an I am so glad we did. 3 well kept cask conditioned ales (Fullers London Pride, Courage Best and Ringwood Fortyniner), all in perfect condition.
The children were welcomed and a separate children's menu for food. All home made from fresh produce as was the main adult menu. The steak was well cooked and all eaten in a wonderful garden setting (with play area for the children. in sight but of of hearing range ) The only downside was the price of the starters at 5.25. Well worth a visit!

Positives:
Good garden for children with a play area that is properly fenced off from the road (see below).
Good food - tasty with fairly big portions. The chips were nice.
Staff were friendly and efficient.

Negatives:
Beer quality was a bit ropey.
Garden is right next to busy road so it's not the peaceful oasis you might expect.

Overall:
Glad we tried it but probably won't rush back.
