I had a great meal in what is a proper pub with a warm friendly atmosphere.
No rudeness, no pretentious folk, no roughians either. Come here for a relaxing pint to unwind, you won't regret it
|
The landlord is rude, the real ales are not kept well! The atomopshere is poor!
Won't be back again!!!

Good pub offering 3 real ales, 1 usually a LocAle often Tillingbourne, Ascot Ales, Surrey Hills to name a few. Polypin cider currently available - on recent visit was thatchers cheddar valley 6%
Bottled hogs back chocolate lager
Patio area with beer garden at rear Regular live music
Good quality local pub and freindly welcome
|
Not sure this pub is still open - went to have a beer the other Sunday at about 9pm & it was closed - went back on Easter Monday for a lunchtime drink - still closed - There were no signs of it closing down and all the stuff inside looked 'lived in' shame if it has - it was getting better as a good real ale pub? - anybody know whats happening to it?

This is now by far our preferred pub in Knaphill. Been coming in regularly for about a year or so now. Nice friendly owners and staff and an excellent selection of real ales (normally 3 at any one time) and refreshed very regularly so always something I've not seen before. They have a good and varied range of wines too. Had the Sunday roast the other week and it was very tasty with plenty of it. All home cooked too which was nice to see.

Not sure the person went into the pub? If he did he would note that their are a three real ales, real cider and a range of bottled beers. A freindly welcoming pub, the betting shop closed about a year ago, well before the comment below States. With the real ales one is often a LocAle from hogs back Surrey hills andwells long dog ascot ales and thurstsons.
Within the beer their a seating out the front and with a beer garden at the rear, good food menu with themed food nights. Often charity events.
London Irish players did an evening to meet and chat with customers plus this also was an evening with their sponsors upham brewery where 3 ales were on offer, inculding stakes and punter.
Freindly pub with a good atmosphere and excallant real ales Camra members often rate the ales highly

I went to this pub and sat down outside on a bench to catch my breath after cycling. Within 30 seconds the landlady came out and said can I help you! "This seating is not for the general public but for Pub customers... This tells you Everything.
The Crown is situated on Knaphill high Street 2 doors down from the Betting Shop, where most of the daytime clientèle originate from. No Real Ale is served here this is a keg lager institute. There is still a seedy feel to the inside of the pub, even though they have stopped hosting strippers for a few years now. Overall Verdict - Sadly dissapointing

This pub is going from strength to strength. 3 Guest Ales which are every changing, always different on each visit. Real Cider of Old Rosie is a perminatant fixture. A huge range of glassware including, lined glasses, tankards and branded glasses. 2 pint tankard is avaialbe plus a 4 pint jug.
Features in pub; Pool Table, Tankards, Car Park, Beer Garden, Food Menu, Regular events including Themed Food Nights, and Live Music.
Recent visit I sampled, Resoulte BItter, Old Roise Cider, Q.E.D, & Rev James. Always enjoy my visit here, staff are freindly and beers are well kept.

A real ale paradise - with great food as well - just to back up my comments below - its now 5 months of using the crown on a regular basis - in that time a have had the pleasure of what I can only call a mini beer festival almost every week - here's just some of the beers i have had and still not even an average one amongst them (all absolutely perfectly kept) ; Flacks double drop, Ringwood boondoggle & old Scrumper, Twickenham Vanguard, Horsham Prospect, Sharps Doombar,Hoggs back Snout, itchen valley's Hampdhire rose, Woodfords Wherry, Ascots on the rails & posh pooch, Otter Ale, Andwells King John & Resolute, Black sheep, Sheer drop, cottage brewing golden arrow, Hammerpot Red Hunter & bottle wreck porter, Thwaites Lancaster Bomber, Timmy Taylor's Londlord, Betty Stoggs, Dorset Piddle, fff Alton Pride, Caledonian over the bar, Adnams Southwold, & finally my favourite two Otter Amber & Tribute (oh they had London pride on as well) May have missed a few as I've obviously not been in there every night!! But then again this is not an advert - I just like to share what I think is a pub that is exceptionally well run.

At last - a proper pub in Knaphill - used to be a dive - now transformed into a friendly pub with excellent home made food - Burgers are to die for, the curries exceptional, its great quality food and I'm fussy. I have been using the Crown as a regular now for the past four months and have never had even an average pint - all have been in first class order and they always have three choices. The host is normally always around and the bar staff are freindly and very efficient. Long may it continue

Such a fantastic pub, Camra members r growing, and supporting here more and more! Three ales on offer at least 1 always from a local brewery from 20 miles away! Food is great too! Pool table, beer garden, tankards real cider, real ale, modern, range if glassware including lined glasses, live music, darts, car park, on a bus route, less than a mile from a train station which is on a London/Portsmouth line (Brookwood) Nr station, menu, 12pm to 12pm 7days a weeks!

This pub continues to go from strength to strength. Recently sampled and enjoyied - rip snorter, alley cat, sunbeam tiger, Fagin, piddle, tribute and blacksheep. All beers are in very good condition and are well kept. If your a fan of real ales then you would like this pub! You must visit!

3rd pub on the pub crawl! This place has definitely been decorated since I was last in and looks much more up market. Very quiet in the bar but a good range of beers. Didn't stay long as the smell from the toilets was quite strong; not the friendliest of places but a decent pint nonetheless.
|
A great pub indeed, properly on of the best in the area of Woking. The real ales are well kept, recently enjoyed bishops finger, blacksheep, hogs back tea, piddle, doom bar to name a few. Shall be returning shortly! Well worth calling in

Had a stonking good laugh in The Crown last night. Bolted about 6 pints (on a school night !) of the Black Sheep which, by pint no. 4, one could tell was on it's way. I was one of several customers who eventually saw it off for it to only to be replaced by a tub of Piddle (4.1%) fresh out of Dorset. This outlet seems to be heading in the right direction since the grand re-opening back in February last year. Though not especially busy last night, I have witnessed it much busier in recent months as I have passed by with the dog. Perhaps the regulars had been tipped off that I was approaching on foot without the dog ! It is currently promoting an up-coming Valentines night extravaganza and urges early bookings. Have a perusal of The Crowns web-site where I'm sure there must be greater detail. ** If The ladhimself reads this - I'd be happy to buy him a pint of Piddle should he ever find himself in leafy Surrey **

Visited The Crown today at lunchtime with a group of new mums. Ignore all reviews written before Feb 2011 as the new landlords took over then. Lovely decor,we were made to feel really welcome by the landlady. Had coffee and a homemade Victoria sponge, delicious. The owners are definately looking for a new client base. The menu looked inviting and I felt it would be a pleasant place to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat in the day or evening with friends or as a couple. Great new daytime meeting place for new mum's in Knaphill without feeling the intimidation you feel in some pubs as a woman. Would happily turn up alone and wait for friends to join me. Give it a go you will be pleasantly suprised.

Wow, called in and what a change. Very nice interior, friendly owner who knows what hospitality is all about. Great food. A nice place to enjoy a pint, a coffee or a meal in comfort. No sky, no loud music, ideal for business meetings with WIFI available free. Not a DH in sight. Got to be 10/10 at the moment.
|
A good starting point for a pub crawl in the Knaphill area. Quiet early on in the evening but it soon gets busier. Directors pint was not the best, the range of beers is quite good overall and there are also band nights here. Noticed a dartboard as well but did not play a game.
|
have to agree with knaphillee the surreys a much better prospect its cheaper and you can actually hear yourself think and the landlord at the crown is an idiot
|
This pub is noisy when the band is playing - whoever they ask to sing clearly can't and I feel sorry for the residents around having to put up with the awful noise. Mentioned this to the "landlord" (a spotty little oik) and he told me where to go - wont be going back there agin - if u wanna drink I advise The Surrey nr. Brookwood - a much nicer pub all-round!
|
this pub is real friendly. the bar staff always make you welcome. you can gaurantee a good laugh in here and also the girls are worth the visit. being female myself, i am not interested but look out boys you can have a good time. when they have bands on then you can really let yourself go!!!!
|
if you're easily embarressed like me then make sure you dont visit on the nights the dancing girls are here theres something a bit off putting about naked women wandering around to turn the jukebox over wont hurry back
|
it's a friendly boozer and the dancing girls are always good for a giggle shame the tvs are so small but worth a visit
|
New owner took over last week. Nice to see some stock behind the bar instead of running out all the time!!

Nice friendly little boozer, decent beer and free live music. Last week there was a band called The Rhythm Pigs, the best band I've seen in ages.
|
This is a great pub on a Friday evening for live music. I've seen many great local bands there including Second Time Around, Six Miles Away and Ruptured Rabbit. Great atmosphere and lots of fun.

The Crown is a good example of a well managed pub. It seems (and possibly is) too small to be a pub at all, so has a very cosy feeling. I have to admit that I wasn't too keen on being unable to sit down without other people who were standing being virtually forced to sit on my table, or having cues stuck in my eye when I was sat by the pool table.
But the landlord and landlady have certainly done the best they can, so I take my hat off to them. The beer is good and well served, the staff are wonderfully friendly, and it does feel like a home from home. Children are very welcome, but again the constraint is the space, and kids being kids .....
The Crown is a pretty good place to watch sports - the screens maybe small, but believe me, you won't be far from one! The garden is pleasant and has some facilities for kids.
Overall, a reasonable watering hole.

Oh Dear... Made the unforunate misake of visiting the pub this week... Visted on an evening when the 'dancing girls' were in.. Not by choice did not realise until i ordered my first drink... Stringfelllows this place aint... If you have any sence of decency or simply do not want to be put off your booze for life dont bother trust me!!! Only scores 2 because my drink was ok.. What I tasted most of it was spat out with laughter when I saw what a 1 a dance can get you!!! (Believe me judging by this 1 is over priced)

the crown is a great pub ! its a classic drinking hole, no women just men sort of feeling ! there's always been a bit of a circle of locals in this place but once your in your in ! had some great nights with mitch, con, andy hamton, gary, big bill, little roonie and duffy ! always good memeroies and even better stories !
|
This is probably the worse pub i have ever had a pint in. You are growled at by the locals if your not with anyone they know, a complete sh!thole
|
Erm, I would like to disagree, but not sure I can. Basic. Fine as a pub crawl destination.
|
All i can say is this pub has to be in my all time top 10 worst pubs in the U.K that i have visited, the furnishings are naff, they do not take card payments and it feels like there should be a boxing ring inside the establishment for the locals that frequent it!!
