We have used this pub for years but sadly we have started to go to other places to drink. Lost count of how many pints of ale I have had to send back since the new manager has started, simply awful. They keep changing the house wine and it isn't the same standard as it was with the old manager.

Simply put, this place has lost its personality......oh and its customers now!

I took over as manager in June 2013 - running this pub for a small group of Viallagers who wanted to save the pub by taking over the lease 3 years ago.

We are trying to improve the quality of the food and drink.

Special offer for September is Sunday Roasts for only £5.95 - Mention BITE when ordering for an extra special offer

Decided to visit this place again, a few weeks back on a Tuesday lunch, sun shining with the plan to sit in the garden for lunch. What a difference a new manager makes, its lost its soul. Empty, no welcome from the man behind the bar, and when we asked for menus he told us the kitchen was closed. We had come quiet far to visit this pub again as we enjoyed it so much last summer. On leaving to go back to the car one of the old regulars was outside and he told me that it had new management. It is one place I will not travel to anymore, such a shame.

Nice pub in quiet country village with a huge garden including an 18 hole putting course!
The food was good, they had a decent selection of real ales and the staff were very friendly – couldn’t ask for more.

Visited this pub today for lunch with the family, we hadnt been here before but on finding it after following road signs we glad we did. I tried a new ale they had 'Romsey Gold', never heard of it but the bar maid offered me a taster before having a pint. We ate in the restaurant which was on the small side but nice touches like flowers on tables (the Mrs's liked that!) The food was good, just good pub grub, service was good, didnt have to wait too long for anything. There were a few regulars at the bar but i wasnt put off by this. A pleasant visit, I would come back.

Such a lovely little pub! Went here a few weeks back to a function with my wife and baby. Staff really helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Food was good, ale was really good which is a bonus! They even have free dog buscuits in a jar at the bar! When the log fire is lit in winter i can imagine its really cosy there, I will be back.

Pros: Nice location and friendly bar staff (when there is any)

Cons: Way overpriced, understaffed, food still average with the new chef and a few anti-social yocals frequent here - be warned

Summary: If you are confined to Ewshot have a drink here, otherwise go somewhere else i.e. Fleet, Farnham or Crondall.

Under new management and now with a French chef producing excellent home made food along good pub menu lines. Good beer including Bombardier and Doombay plus a reasonable wine list at sensible prices to compliment the equally well priced good food made this a lovely pub to visit on a sunny lunchtime. The home made beef curry was the best I've tasted in a long time and my friend's food was equally good. The pub has an enormous garden at the rear including an 18 hole putting green and is child and dog friendly. Although off the main road it is worth the visit. CamberleyMike 20th april 2011

Under new management as of Sept 2010. Was made to feel very welcome. Beer quality improving.

Nice location. The staff as well as locals very welcoming and smiley. Classic pub decor but very clean. What let's this pub down is the food. It's not 'fine dining', expect a warmed pie/pots/veg place. What you get is definately acceptable though, and good for vegitarians. Service could be improved, we were left thirsty/unattended and waiter seemed frantic which didn't help to relax. Would return for a beer if passing.

Fantastic location, friendly staff. Overpriced and overfried food and it's in the middle of nowhere so you're hardly going to turn around and go elsewhere. Utter exploitation of a captive market, for shame.
