Surprisingly soulless pub close to the station. Warm welcome from barman in apron. The Orkney Dark Island was in cracking form. We tried the stovies - a beef and potato stew. Very good and cheap.

Listed in the beer guide 2013, I sought Aitchies out especially on my way to the station.

After reading the mixed reviews on here I had 1 or 2 reservations but how wrong these reports were.

There were only 2 ales on draught, both Scottish, I had Dark Island from the Orkney Brewery, always a good brew from this outfit and this pint was no different.

Being a Saturday late morning there were just a couple of customers in but they coupled with the bar man / landlord were very welcoming and chatty.

Great range of Whiskey's on the shelves the majority from independent Scottish distillers.

Excellent ale house, stones throw to the station. Worth getting in if you want a warm welcome and a well kept pint.

Looks the part as you enter but sadly lacking in ales and the only one on offer, Orkney Dark Island wasn't particularly well kept. Could be so much better.

OK point taken, you would expect an Ale House to be focussed on cask ale, and when I visited the were only two - Dark Island and Deuchars - prices were at the upper end and the measures at the lower-end. Nevertheless, both ales were excellent and in suberb condition.

The bar staff were immaculately dressed and managed the pub with great style and precision. They made me me feel very welcome and well looked after.

The traditional Scottish food accompaniments were excellent and good value. Stovies and Bridies are a must try for those uninitiated.

In spite of first appearances, this is a real classic and must-visit pub.

Had a look in here while waiting for my ferry. Despite a sign outside saying a range of traditional beer was available, there was only lager. Didn't stop.

Orkney Dark Island is still the only cask ale on offer here. The service was pleasant but the interior was non too appealing. Didn't notice the steep prices, but everywhere in Aberdeen seems cheap when compared to London.

was told by someone in a pub nearby that the reason he charges 2.60 for a pint of lager is to keep the idiots out the pub. dont know if its true or not

Visited again, the place is still inviting and the staff polite. But this time the Orkney Dark Island was in poor condition, nearly vinegar. That is a pity, as this is the only cask ale they stock now.

Truely magnificent bar. Fantastic place for the best pint in Aberdeen, friendly bar staff and extremely clean bar. Very welcoming atmosphere. Really is a cut above the rest.

I was in the office block across the road during Sept 11th. Anyway, this is a great pub which I go into after returning to aberdeen by train following aberdeen fc away games. This place is more than a cut above the other nearby pubs. Prides itself on the service it offers and you are treated as a valued customer ratehr than an inconvenience.

A pub I'll remember the rest of my life - I was there on Sept. 11. 2001 waiting for a train, shortly after flying in to Aberdeen Airport. The TV was on, and for the first time I saw the surreal pictures from New York rolling over the screen. The shock did not keep me from sampling cask conditioned Orkney Dark Island, one of the best beers I've had. Friendly and tranquil daytime atmosphere in the pub, which is situated just across the street from the train station.

A friendly bar, a stones throw from the railway station, good selection of beers as I recall....a lot of oilmen still frequent the place which gives it a lot of character(!)..
