A nice interior to this pub with a good selection of ales (branoc was good). It does suprisingly have a very reasonable suntrap beer garden which when looking at it from the front you wouldn't expect. Agree about the dangerous crossroads outside, take care when leaving especially when you have had a few!
A good pub.

Forgot to rate this pub after being on holiday near here in August 2011.
This is a lovely little pub that stands right on the Sidford crossroads, they did a smashing pint of BVB Branoc and the grub menu looked very interesting (didn't try but will do next time). Very friendly, do a beer festival in September and noticed that Rugby is shown.

This Pub is under new management as from Aprl 2010. Keep up the good work and all the best to Chris and Ceri, the new owners.

Hi visited "the Rising Sun" at the end of July 2010, Ate here Saturday and Sunday, the food is delicious, hot, the service is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The beer is great. Would highly recomend visiting a warm friendly and excellent place run by a caring hardworking Family xxx

Very friendly pub where landlord (Brian) and locals make you feel very welcome. Brian has an a very dry sense of humour and do get him talking about football (Spurs or Palace)or what he has just read in The Telegraph. He is also very good at crosswords and word games. Christine, his partner, makes the best omelettes I have tasted and I can also recommend the haddock fishcakes. Would recommend anyone to drop in for a very well kept pint of Brancombe's.

A once lively and thriving pub, cherished by locals, has declined in popularity since being taken on by the current tenants.
A half baked, incomplete refurbishment, inconsistent quality of beer and scowling landlord have all contributed to flat atmosphere that has led to many locals choosing to take custom elsewhere, leaving the pub almost empty on weekday evenings.

Nice pub we came across by accident. we were looking for a pub with sky sports and had only found one for miles and it was full of growling locals in boiler suits. then sitting at a set of traffic lights we saw this pub had sky sports and thought why not. there is a nice big car park behind the spar opposite and you only have a 30 second walk. inside it is nice, it has pool, darts, skittles and of course Sky Sports. a good selection of beer and cider. Upon asking for food said they didnt do food today (monday). we said fine and thought nothing more. 10mins later the landlady came over and said "the chef is off but i can make you anything you like from the menu if you like" which we thought was very nice and said yes. The fish and chips were lovely, the fish was fresh and local. Overall the Landlord was funny, his wife was lovely, good food, good pub will be going back.

Nice friendly pub on a busy corner. The junction outside has a weird set up for the traffic lights, so take care crossing the road!!!. Nice food at a decent price. Well kept pint.
