Swan Inn, Needham Marketback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Large Greene King pub in the High Street and opposite the road to the train station.
3 ales on cask which were Speckled Hen, GK IPA and Fireside with East Coast IPA on keg. I had 2 pints of Fireside which were both drinkable.
A nice friendly pub with an eating area through an arch beyond the bar. Back towards the door before the small bar is a pool table, dart board and a couple of fruit machines.
Worth a visit if in the village.

Nipped in before and after a football match at Needham Market FC last Saturday. I can't see much wrong with the place. I chose it post-match, ahead of the perfectly adequate Rampant Horse, because it has a dartboard and because the visiting Burgess Hill fans (all 10 or 12 of 'em) had picked the Rampant Horse and both pubs were relatively busy at lunchtime. It was a more comfortably spacious venue to glance at Leicester commencing their title defence with a defeat at Hull City. Seemed to have a good selection of ales and other alcoholic beverages for a Greene King establishment but I stuck with Old Speckled Hen on draught, which was fair enough. (Chippie next door was excellent) A few kids playing pool, but they weren't lairy. It was still moderately busy after the game.

A typical Greene King local that has probably suffered from the smoking ban, buy had reasonable custom early evening mid-week. IPA and Abbot were OK despite it looking like a lager pub, service perfectly friendly and decent prices.

I made the mistake of visiting The Swan last night (despite being warned that the drink was awful there, that's if they actually had any) - after asking for two pints of lager, the landlord pulled about a third of a pint and said there was no more left. Rather than bothering to order something else, I walked out - this is the first time I have every done this. 0/10.

You have to be joking? The 'landlady' Sue is a sour faced old bag, with no manners or customer service skills and a face that is probably responsible for turning the beer, which tastes as bad as her face looks. NEVER GOING BACK

Needham Market is a sorry place to search for real ales, on the few occasions we have entered this establishment one of our party has experienced:
The bar staff holding onto his beer money change A pint of Carling poisoning! Not a pretty sight Shocking service from the younger female bar staff An altercation with one of the locals in the beer garden that was intimidatory
Apparently the music night is a great event; it does food, plenty of parking, nice gardens and has a pool table! However if it is a decent pint you after avoid nothing but the usual suspects on draft, tasteless BIG name brands stacked full of additives, lovely!
