This is one of the few Wetherspoon pubs that I have visited just for beer. A large room with 2 levels and a longish bar, I have visited for the last 4 years & had good service and good value for money beer each time. This year I had an Adnam's (2.20) which was fine. Just around the corner from the Theatre of Dreams, I can only imagine what it is like on game days, but around midday, mid week in mid summer it is a jolly good pub.

Easily one of the better JDWs I've visited.
Youngish, chipper staff and customers, lively atmosphere, beer better than usual JDW's, food up to expectations.

Lunchtime visit in the week. polite, attentive staff... beer ok.
|
Good selection of ales and has regularly beer festivals. Reasonable prices.

Working at Salford Quays thought I would pop in for a pint when going back to my digs, had my favourite pint of Abbott's and was bitterly disapointed beer tasted yeasty and not at all like Abbots staf were resistant about giving me an slternative pint, shame cause overall not a bad pub

Was recently in Manchester on business and thought I would pop in to see how the pub was without the football rabble.
Tuesday is steak night as in most JDW, I was running somewhat late and they were more than happy to accomodate my request for a Rib eye steak at 9.30pm. I chose the option of a pint of pedigree which was served in top form.
Overall on this occassion the food was top class, the beer top class and atmosphere was more than welcoming with a very mixed and friendly crowd of regulars.
It suprising how different the pub was with no match on, but the standards were first rate!

What a place this is! I go to Old Trafford to watch united on a regular basis but in all honesty I go now for the pub and not the game!
Before the game there is a great mixed crowd enjoying a great sing song led by the legend of the terraces Pete Boyle, then after the match a bizarre little Chinese chap gets up and starts dancing, the funniest thing ever.
Staff are really friendly and some of the managers are a bit wacky one in particular who sings Boyzone songs?!?!?!? Beer is always top draw, prices do go up on match day but in all honesty I would happily pay to come in!
keep up the good work team, a trully unique venue!

This JDW pub is classed as a live sport pub, but apart from major events the pub is generally fairly quiet and the TV screens unobtrusive. The staff are very friendly & helpful and the beer kept well. In addition to the standard Abbot, Pedigree & GK IPA they serve an interesting range of 2 or 3 guest beers. Unless you're into football avoid Man Utd home match days as all the furniture is removed, the kitchen closes, bar prices rocket and the chanting will deafen you.

Great pub to watch football, with lots of t.v's and big screen. Good food, good pint and cheap as well. The toilets are spotless and bar staff are very friendly. Cant find a complaint with it at all.Well worth a visit.

Some weird buggers get in there, when I came back from the toilets some lad was trying to sell my son a iPod and is sisters bra? very strange. Nice pint, but as I say some very strange characters
|
went in one time. not bad. quite spacious. reminds me of weatherspoons in chorlton.
|
good when the match is on and good ale for a jds.
|
Why do all Wetherpoons pubs have the toilets either 10 flights up or down stairs?
|
i have enjoyed many a night in the pub after work, cheap drink and nice food, with private booths, dining area and also a more comfortable area what more could you possibly ask for.

Brought in to service the football trade and occassional trade from nearby offices. Standard Wetherspoons fare when it comes to food and drink, although the cans come out on match day and it's season ticket holders only. Not sure this will ever relace the Dog and Partridge, can be pleasant during the week or after the cricket but my match day drinking will stay in the Gorse Hill

A pub that always has a good selection of beers, changed frequently. Very pleasant staff. Drawbacks - it's full of TV sets and stay away when Manchester United at home.

Usual nice Wetherspoon's interior. five ales on draught (boddies, spitfire, pedigree plus guests). Off-peak (non-match) times really quite cheap (7 bought me round of 5 pints the other night), does superb food till 9pm. Great loos, sparkling clean with bright fully-tiled surfaces and big bright mirrors over washbasins.
