The Falcon was a really good pub, i used it in the 70s and through to the 80s, It had people of all ages there but it went down hill when most of the old boys died or stopped going there, due to age and illness, and the next generation took over. I very rarely went in the new bit at the back as that was where the youngsters all went and the atmosphere just wasnt there... to many kids trying to prove something. My grandfather used to clean at the pub after the war and used to have quite a few drinks there. Sadly another of the "gang I knew has passed away"
Good times

Can't believe the posters on here saying this was once a "great pub". It was always a terrible lager boys gaff. I used it reluctantly because it was the nearest place to the college across the road. Will not be missed...

Opened in the early 1800's Closed by Greene King,so they could sell it off for la-di-da housing with some token 'starter flats' in the once beautiful beer garden. Thanks Greene King, you utter breadheads corporate nazis.

This pub has now closed and is - if the local press are to be believed - due to be turned into a mosque.

This pub has now closed.

Apparently the brewery have applied for planning permission to convert this pub into two houses and build another on the car park. Looks like it's days are numbered which is a shame as I often used to drink in here a few years ago.

once a great pub with a cross section of punters.Has been subject to constant management changes over last couple of years and its a shadow of its former self, with chavs now gawping at sky sports (hiss) and intimidating people outside when having a smoke out front.standard Greene King beers.I'd go into town for a beer if i was you...........

I called in recently and found this pub had regressed a bit. The management had changed and it was very quiet. They didn't have any bottled Abbot ale and the barmaid didn't seem to be in love with her job. I used to enjoy a pint or two in this pub but I don't think I would go in there again at present.

Standard two bar set up. The pool tables, juke box and sports t.v. atracts all of the chavs in the area (of which there are many) which makes it a no-no for civilized pub goers. Some way out of town so the casual visitor is unlikely to make the mistake of actually going in.

Pool table; juke box; football on tvs; lager boys.
