The George is no more, it is now a mediocre pizza place. Totally transformed, this (i thought listed) old coaching inn and great atmospheric pub has become another victim of the local council. Gonna miss my sunny sunday afternoons in the alley beside the pub, remember when we used get the acoustic guitars out and play along to pints of Directors Bitter. Was a great pub.

Sadly the George is now closed. The greedy owner has decided to convert it into an Italian restaurant which is a bit silly as there is a new Italian Pizza restaurant two doors down and another Italian restaurant five doors down. Basingstoke council have been duped into allowing this blatent change of use (which normally would have to go through no end of submissions, debates etc.).

Very good bar staff but music a bit rubbish, good place to meet plumbers though.

I am not a fan of Town Centre pub, but compared to some of the others this one is ok. I prefer the local Yates but most of all the Soldiers Return up at Oakridge.

Definitely one of the best pubs in Basingstoke. Excellent Atmousphere, great staff and good prices. Also, v. cheap and yet surprisingly good menu!

I work there and drink there and really enjoy both aspects, its cheap and you always get served quickely and open until late which is a bonus in basingstoke.

Well i get steaming in there every week!!! a the ladies behind the pub r great!! "get in there and have a JD and Coke" and then large it!!!!

Top pub best in basingstoke I reckon. Great staff, Great music and great JD&Coke..oh and you can large it big time on a weekend

The George also has an eatery ample seating and stage area. it is also excellently priced.
