Popped in last Saturday night with my wife and two friends. What a difference from last time I was there 12 months ago. New owners I think! The place was buzzing, great music and brilliant mixed crowd and a few people we knew.Young Bar staff were on the ball and looked great compared to some old woman last time I was there. Anyway really impressed and will be back

I went there one night to watch the Euro footie and it was nearly empty apart from a small bloke behind the bar. I had a nice evening, bought a few alcoholic drinks and decided to go there to watch another match on the following night.
What a contrast!!!
The small pleasant guy behind the bar there on the previous night was replaced by a big thug giving me menacing looks accompanied by an abrupt, rough woman. Still feeling the effects of the previous night's session I ordered a coffee. You could see this did not go down well and it was obvious that I was expected to order more than that if I wanted to stay.
My suspicions were soon to be confirmed. When I finished the last sip of coffee the woman came over to take my order for another drink. I ordered a GLASS of coke. The woman brought over a bottle already opened even though they clearly served much cheaper coke on draught. The thug was menacingly overseeing this transaction and it was obvious that they wanted to get as much out of me as possible if I were to continue watching the match.
If you are looking for a really unfriendly bar where they serve drinks with menaces then this place is for you. However if you want a nice quiet drink served in a friendly atmosphere and want to watch the football in peace I suggest you visit the Saracens head just up the road.

Looks a bit like a Dutch Cafe from the outside. Strange sort of bar, across the road you have the traditional boozer the Plume, then you have this place. It`s a pretty small establishment.....50 people in there and it`d be a sardine can! Been it there a few times and stuck to the lager, usually one person serving so tend to go for the easiest quickest drink to get. Can`t say the locals are that friendly.....`your not from round these parts are you? but it`seems a safe enough place. Ok venue to go for a quiet beer with the missus.

contrary to the opening hours displayed in the window, this place shuts in the afternoon so don't get too settled as you will be asked to leave!

Rated 8. Would have been higher but they've taken Sky out due to excessive price charged by Sky. Nice friendly pub, Dick and Stacey great landlords. Shuts too early at weekends !

Strawberrys is a nice little bar, good draught beer and cider and good for sport. Probably best place in Shirley to go for a drink.

Although looking a bit like a wine-bar, this local pub is a friendly bar with a regular clientele as well as passing trade from the many restaurants in the same stretch of road. There is a free car park at the rear - the small yard acts as a small beer garden in summer. Richard and Stacey took-over in March 2005 and the pub has benefitted from a general tidy-up and attention to detail. Sky Sports is on offer (the only place in the area) some evenings and weekends and an exciting 2006 World Cup is envisaged. Quiet and friendly, lively at times, you always get a warm welcome from the staff and regulars.
