Has now suffered what is believed to be an arson attack. With plenty of land surrounding it, I can see why the greedy housing developers are eager to capitalise.

Sadly closed again.
Apparently now developers of a nearby housing estate have bought it with plans to demolish it and replace it with a traffic island.

Have gone to call in three times over the festive period and found it closed each time. Seems to be moving toward more cheap resturant and away from being a pub which is a pity. At least the refurbed pub down the hill is normally open though admittedly slightly less pleasant an envoroment to drink in.

Passed by the other day to see this place back open so called in for a pint. Decors as before inside which was nice, couple of decent beers on and was well staffed with friendly service.
Food looked popular, more value over quality so I hear but the prices looked good. Nice to see the place open again.

Pun and DIning kind of place. The ales were bland and uninspring.

Now closed it seems, not really a surprise. Hopefully someone can take it over who knows how to run a pub and get it back to the sucess it was a couple of years ago.

This place has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The menu is excellent and the beer is spot on. They are even in the Good Beer Guide for 2012.
Not sure if the guy who previously posted has been to the same pub.
They even had a great Jazz band playing last night. Would recommend any one to visit the Greyhound.

Was surprised to call in on a weekend evening and find this place nearly empty. Used to be you could get a seat in there on a Saturday night.
The beer was good as always though, if very overpriced.

Called in for some food recently and sadly it was really down on its previous high standards, average at best and quite small portions too. There was only ourselves and one other group eating, I saw them have to send two meals back, the empty pub meant the atmoshpere was lacking as well.
There was a long wait at the bar to get served every time, despite the pub being empty, as there was only one person working in the whole place. The beer however was still good if, like the food, quite pricey . It seems a real change from 6/9 months ago when you had to book to get a table and could never get to the bar for customers. I can only guess the fact its one of the dearest pubs in the town to drink in and if the food isn't great people aren't going to pay over the odds to visit it.

I think the last poster will find the glass in the car park is from the glass recycling bins there rather than car crime.
If he'd called into the place three or four years ago he would see the change for the good the place went through when it was re opened last year.
That said there was litte choice on the beer front when I called in at the weekend, a dissapointment as the pub normally has a good choice of three or more real ales. There was also quite loud music on in the afternoon which wasn't needed and wasn't on the last time I called in.
I don't know if they are still serving food as there was no sign of it nor any menus. A shame as the food was very good there the last time I visted too.

Tried it yesterday - 28th Dec.
Decent pint of Abbots but the pub doesn't feel like it can succeed.
Its well finished but the location, next to Charford, will kill it. I visited earlier in the year and was not happy parking my car in a car park where the broken glass indicated smashed windows and stolen valuables. I overheard the staff and customers discussing just that problem. The beer is too expensive for Charford folk on benefits and too close to Charford for anyone else. The barman said they were barely taking enough to cover his wages.
Yesterday fairly quiet but a local was fairly loudly f'ing and blinding. Not good.
I'm no prude but there were women present.
Its a shame as I can remember it as almost a country pub in the 60's where mum and dad went for cider and babycham (...not mixed!) on summer Sunday evenings.

Went to call in this week and the place was closed. Looked like it was still trading. Dissapointing.

Called in this afternoon on spec. Foody appearance but 4 real ales on. If the other 3 are as good as the Wye Valley HPA I had then it looks good for further visits.

I called in to the recently re-opened Greyhound pub on Rock Hill and was very impressed with the changes.
While the 'look' of the pub isn't that traditional and does seem a tad out of place in its current setting, it has to be said its probably a change for the better. Well decorated, clean - nice change there - and very busy - though this may be due to people trying it out, given it was the first weekend of opening.
Most importantly, for me, the pub now features a couple of very tasty Real Ales on tap. Service was very friendly and the food we ordered really was superb and I'll certainly be calling back to try more.
I wish them all the best and hope they can keep up the standards and atmosphere they've opened with.

This pub has been closed for the last year but is about to reopen.
I'm none too keen on the dirty brown colour its been painted but its nice to see some investment in what could be a nice pub.
Always used to be full young mums with push chairs and toddlers running amock in the place.
It will be intresting to see what kind of pub its going to be now.
