There is no pub here, it has been a Tesco for a few years.
This old pub is long gone and is now part of tescos takeover of the country soon most pubs will end up being a tesco bloody local.
ITS A TESCO..NOT HERE ANY MORE!!!
The Bass was a great spaceous pub in its day,it was the pub-to-be-in at the time..then it got dirty (shame on the managers)and then it closed. At the very least.. it was a pub and not a gastrobar.
This pub does not exist, thankfully!
Jazper..you are sooo right!

Strangely enough I have good memories of drinking in the Bass House, Friday lunch times it was full of 5th Formers from Harriet and those on the Link course at Tech. Do we really need another bloody supermarket or should we keep some pubs with a little character. I agree with the lottery winner to be, Id change it back to the Bass House
Well I worked for IBM as well and used this watering-hole on friday lunchies and finishers. Loved this place especially when they had Bass IPA and Bass Special (top gas) on.
How well i too remember working for IBM and going to the Bass for a friday afternoon wag. Well I blame the council, they shouldn't put commerce so next to leisure.

God, I remember when this pub finally went downhill:smelly toilets; cheap decor; musty managers. Thanks Bass.

If you went into the Bass House and asked for a pint of Bass, they would not know what you were talking about. Glad it has gone.
The biggest pub in town, this was. If I won the lottery I would knock down the Tesco store and re-open it as the Bass house cos it was much more fun.
yeh, fond memories of putting my laptop and phone on do not disturb at work and spending the afternoon playing pool there, a place like that would be that last place my boss would have looked! thank you Bass house! and thank you IBM!!!
sorry to bore you with the standard memory lane bullshit but the bass house deserves a place in the history of basingstoke pubs book (if there ever is one) . this place was great for dropping a few( and buying )Es before you went clubbing. the dj there ,cant remember hes name, dropped tunes ahead of the time, it was like ibiza in basingstoke for a brief moment in time. aarreeba!
Good Riddance! Was an OK place for a lunchtime pint and did nice simple pubgrub of a good standard. However after being served a pint of cleaning fluid I never returned.
The Basshouse is no more. It is now a Tesco Metro store...

I think it's a shame it closed actually. Thinking about it when on the website and wished I could go for a pint in there. With Euro 2004 on it would have been ideal. The dark interior with it's submerged toilets was a place full of character, as well as the staff and regulars alike. It's such a shame it's gone, other pubs in the town don't live up to the atmosphere and others, (such as the Beacon) are not worth going to at all

Completely shut down and will become a supermarket. It was last run by Laarsens who did it up a treat and have now moved to Wote st.
