I'd say this was my pub of the night in Alcester. And there is some choice.
8 real ales with shampoo bottles showing the colours along a long bar.
Good whisky and Gin Selection.
Very friendly patrons. Easy to get in a chat when sat at the bar.
Beams very low :-)

Pub is currently closed but expected to re-open shortly. Let's hope that the format is not changed significantly as it was a local institution.

Nice enough small old school pub with decent beer. The bus to Redditch stops outside.

Enjoed a very nice pint of St Peters Ruby Red ale 03/07/12. Very quiet on a Tuesday night when the Holly Bush and Turks Head were quite busy.

Very nice basic pub with large old flag floor, heavily beamed and timbered, with good views out to the street. Enjoyed pints from Fernandes and Wentworth breweries. Quite busy, although there was a folk festival on in the town at the time as well as a beer festival at the Holly Bush. A well timed visit.

Good range of beers. Courteous service. We appreciate the absence of TV and gaming machines -- just animated chat among the regulars. And it was nice and warm on a winter's day. One drawback -- many of the chairs need replacing. I'm 12.5 stones, hardly a heavyweight, but had to try out three rickety chairs before I was convinced they wouldn't collapse under me.

Enjoyed another visit to this lovely dog friendly pub. No problem with the beer or the service.

Completely agree with RogerB's assessment.
Excellent pub, wonderful ale.
10/10
I still prefer the Holly Bush though!

Marvellous, Old fashioned pub in a pretty part of town. The old boy behind the bar was born to be a barman and everything is unhurried and calm. The beer is terrific with a good range of ever changing beers from far and wide. Basic seating and a gentle quiet, you don't come across pubs like these very often now. Definitely worth a visit.

The second best pub in Alcester, just pipped by the Holly Bush. A very old fashioned single room pub geared to the person who wants a no nonsense drink and chat. No games, no food, no music, no TV, just a down to earth pub with a superb selection of beers and knowledgeable welcoming staff. Up to 8 Real Ales available - mainly local but a couple of Cornish beers on my visit. Sadly no real cider on pump but bottle of 7.2% Hogans is a decent alternative. A frequent winner of the local CAMRA pub of the year (they have an annual running battle with the Holly Bush for the title), they are regulars in the Good Beer Guide. The furnishings are basic with flag stoned floor and low beams although the modern brick bar is an unsympathetic addition and the absence of a fireplace suggests that there have been some quite substantial makeovers over the years. Part of the wall has been exposed to reveal the wattle and daub construction. The shelves and window sills are full of empty bottles and a selection of collectable tankards hang above the bar. The toilets are outside through a yard piled high with empty barrels. Interesting old prints on the wall including some photos including some the town in flood. There are also several certificates on show for their charitable work. A great little pub - thoroughly recommended.

Always call in to check the board and usually find something new to try. An old fashioned one room pub that is usually quiet. Lots of beer bottles round the pub with labels from yesteryear. Never had any problem with quality of the beer.
