This pub has closed down, shame it was rough and ready but a decent place to watch rugby

best fry up you'll find for miles and miles.don't be put off by the pub's negative reputation.this is a serious breakfast!

I stayed here for a night in an excellent nicely decorated newly refurbished en suite room with a great shower, fluffy towels, comfy bed and a flat screen telly. Very pleasant staff and great value for money. Recommended!

Looks OK from the road, but inside this is a pretty basic pub with sport on the TVs plus a pool table in the back room. It does, however, offer food and B&B accommodation (but I'm not sure that I would wish to try either). Two handpumps, but only one clipped (for Hogs Back T.E.A. at 3.00) and even then the barman had to go the the cellar to pour it direct from the barrel (but despite my scepticism this turned out to be fine when it appeared).

Very poor beer and average food. All seems to be aimed at the younger, lager drinking crowd. Not for the beerlover.

Stayed at Star Inn over weekend, despite booking online we found there was not a room available on arrival, we were then put in a long term tenants room for weekend, standard of room was poorno yale lock on door, just a standard key, shower room down hall had no lock on it so we didnt dare use that and to top it all no offer of a discount on room price for taking a sub standard room. Totally disgusted with whole stay, whole experience very poor, will think twice about recomending it or using it again.

Sunday lunch-time and my party was the only one present for most of a one hour stay. Not sure if the refurb has taken place and judging by the layer of dust on the fireguard it hasn't been used since Lout from the lane was here. Not even the Greene King is served now as apparently most it is thrown away! Only lagers and Guinness left. Was told by barman that it would fill when Chelsea came on Sky TV. No further comment.

This was a great Shepherd Neame locals pub but has obviously changed hands now serving Greene King Abbot. The front door glass was cracked, most chairs/stool were threadbare and had a real fire in a crumbling brick fireplace, and if you can't notice these features you can try the eye test on the wall!! Friendly Slovakian bar maid had the TV on when we arrived early Saturday afternoon and even offered us the remote control - so its not all bad news. Apparrently due for a (much needed) refurbishment in May/June

It is very small but it does the best prices in the town and it also has the best guiness.
