Oh dear.... what a shame....
The management have clearly put a lot of time and money into this place. It's such a shame about the clientele. If you want physical violence just because the little Englanders don't like you purely because they've never seen you before, this is the place to be. Management - sort out your customers....

This pub is a sports pub with many TV screens. The hobgoblin ale was excellent and the pub now has alot of comfotable seating. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.

A couple of pints of Hobgoblin. Very good condition and well kept.
Very friendly service by very attentive staff. Would recommend this pub to anyone.

Made a brief Saturday morning visit after noting in the local CAMRA magazine that a new landlord (whose previous pub was GBG listed) had introduced real ale.
I had a decent enough half of a Wychwood best bitter and Hobgoblin was also on offer.
Nice enough town centre pub.

This place has improved beyond all recognition over the last year. And is the only place I've ever seen two Wychwood beers on the hand pump.

Much improved now the management has changed, still lacking in decent comfy seats but the changes that I have noticed are improved customer service and a better jukebox with friendlier atmosphere to the bar already.
The management who were previously running it seemed to think by introducing a chav culture / club 18 - 30 style would attract customers and didnt seem to worry about the reputation the pub was getting.
The swan when I was a regular used to have a great mix of people who would feel content to sit around chat and listen to music all night everyone knew everyone and new people were always made to feel welcome.
I have started to return to the place now the pub is showing signs of recovering to where it was when I was a regular.

I used to be a regular here about 7 or 8 years ago and it was a really nice pub then, with a great atmosphere and some character. Sadly it is not as nice these days. The place looks like it's been stripped of anything comfortable. No carpets, no cushions, no comfortable chairs, it's just a bit too olde worlde for my liking.
The Swan isn't busy on Friday and Saturday nights when other pubs in the town are turning people away because they're full, that says a lot about this pub.

This once used to be a half-way decent pub. Its still got the original bar, but the rest of the place.... it looks as though it will be good once the builders have finished, but the builders have actually long since gone. No ales, but reasonably well kept continental lagers. It's better than the "Youth Club Pub" over the road, but not by much.
