Service and beer all adequate. It's the music that sets this venue apart. Good selection of blues and jazz artists which make it unique in this part of town. Well worth a visit

£2.50 for a half of Guiness. I have the blues man.

As previous reviewers have stated its wonderful to be able to enjoy traditional jazz and blues in such a relaxed and friendly pub, only minor gripe they could try a little harder with the selection of draughts beers/cider - pretty ubiquitous/bland selection, i mean who drinks Caffrey's these days !

It's very refreshing to see a bar that specializes in live Blues and Jazz. It seems really easy to find a place to see an Indie band or an Acoustic showcase but there's only a handful of places in London for Blues fanatics like me. Its a tiny place so it's usually pretty rammed (been there a few times now) but this place isn't your usual pub with the musicians squirreled away in the corner playing in the background. Instead, the band is on full view, under spotlights playing through a pretty significant sound system. The drinks all seem to be well prepared and the bar staff are super friendly. Is a place like this able to compete with the likes of Ronnie Scotts or the new Charlotte St Blues? No but...in my opinion, it just about tops the list of small, intimate music venues in London where you'll get a good pint of ale, sit in clean and cosy surroundings and watch live music of a very hi standard

Another good music venue that serves real ale very friendly and welcoming.

Ive been here a few times in the past 6 months and love the place. Yes it's tiny and there isn't much of a food choice (despite what the person said several reviews down, I've always eating well there). What you do get though is to be in one of the most intimate music venues in London. On top of that they always seem to have a really great band playing and the atmosphere has been absolutely electric everytime I've gone. Btw what they may lack in beer selections, they make up for in cocktails- try the long island iced tea... Nearly blew my head off!

I used to really like the agricultural. I like blues, too but its shame it had to be this pub which closed for it. I can think of plenty of other rubbish pubs in Angel that I would have liked to see close instead of this one.

First time visitor in its new guise as a Jazz/Blues/Noog hangout. Went on a week night, but no live music - flyer says live music 6 days a week. Did we get the wrong day? 3 beers on hand pump, Deuchars was our pick. Absolute plus points for serving it in dimple jars, fantastic! Place was busy but thinned out early on as the "one pint after work"ers went home. No problem getting a seat, and staff were friendly enough.
......now on to the negative. the food. The menu is the simplest you'll ever see in a modern central London boozer - Ribs, chicken or cheeseburger. Not a fancy word used between them. That is an exact copy of the menu, word for word. This wouldn't be a negative if they made these really nice in some way, but they haven't. They've made them really rubbish in every way. You know that chicken you can get at 5am from the health hazard dodgy rundown sick stained broken windowed neon fronted hell that is some sort of kebab shop? Yes? That would be foodie heaven compared to the gnarly tosh they serve in here for six pounds fifty pence. Fried chicken that looked and tasted like it had been waiting for me for a few weeks, served with a handful of McDonalds type fries. Thanks for that. They have a kitchen, and they have a man who is in the kitchen who I was hoping was some sort of chef. What a fool I was..... mind you, the fact that they can offer a cheeseburger but not a hamburger should ring-a-ding-a-dong some sort of alarm bells I guess. Its probably one of those microwavable Rustlers things in a packet from Tescos round the corner.
......harsh? Maybe - but I just think there isn't any excuse for this sort of thing in a otherwise upmarket-ish slightly cool music bar in a busy area. If you cant do food, stick to crisps, we don't mind! - if you just want to do bar snacks, fine, just put a little bit of effort in for 6.50 please. Any effort will do.
Hey, the music selection was ok too. See - not that bad a place really, as long as you feed up beforehand.

Went for their first gig on the 24th and liked it so much, I went back the next night. The bands were both fantastic. It's a very intimate venue and very friendly. Was pretty hot though- got chatting to the owner - said that air con's being installed very soon. This is just what Islington needs- a proper Blues and Jazz venue

Has emerged from a refurb and shed it's name - now called Round Midnight and is a 'blues/jazz bar with live music. Not much beer to write home about - had a mediocre London Pride and I think they had Adnams on.

This pub originally the wrong setting on the Sky Digibox meaning the pictures looked fat and distorted on their plasma TV. But the manager was helpful and actually listened to his customer's concerns (unlike many other managers in other pubs), so with a little advice from me, the widescreen setting on the Digibox has now been corrected to provide the *full* widescreen picture without any bits missing! Come here to catch the Premier League on Sky Sports in the way it's meant to be seen!

Was in here on 8th Sep for the Scotland football match, good banter, so stayed on and watched the England game too, a good night was had by all! Returned after my trip to Paris for the football and enjoyed another good night on 14th Sep watching the rugby, although the regulars didn't seem to enjoy it quite as much!

Was pleasantly surprised when I visited this place. Had a couple of bottles of beer one Saturday early evening. Nothing spectacular but did the job alright.
|
Went here to watch the Champions league final, packed to the rafters. Enjoed the beers here indeed. My only gripe was only 3 staff on what must have been surely expected to be a busy night in North London

I never really used the Agricultural much despite working 100 yards away for the best part of 2 years. No real major problems with the place but they had a poor reputation for the quality of their beers. The prices are a bit higher than normal but this did help keep out the local riff-raff from the nearby street market. The interior is fairly comfortable without being snobbish or up-market and the large picture windows ensure that you can decide whether it is to your taste before you go in. I certainly never had a problem with feeling (or being treated) as if I was too old or too young and I would say it has a fairly universal appeal. You could certainly do a lot worse but, in an area with a huge diversity of pubs, you could also find a lot better.

Not much going down here. At 33 felt 15 years older than most clientele. Barmaid somewhat slow and unhelpful, also borderline child buspass. Didnt stay long.

this is another one with security access to the bogs...

Popped in to this pub to meet on a saturday night expecting it to be busy as its not too far from Upper Street but it was just busy enough, nice atmosphere, good beer, good cheer
