A relatively soulless chain style pub close to Aston University which was saved by some of its beer choices - Pale Rider from Sheffield's Kelham Island brewery was in good nick. On a pub crawl that took in 10 of the second city's hostelries, this was well down the list in terms of quality, however.

Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild 6% available this weekend along with a few other ales - expensive but beer quality is good. The food looks Brake Brothers though...

This pub is located in the heart of Aston University. It was fairly busy with Aston Villa football fans on our Saturday lunchtime visit, as it is not too far from their ground. 3 ales were on - Lymestone Ein Stein, Byatts Phoenix Gold & Wye Valley HPA. 2 other beers were being prepared in the cellar. Sadly, there was no real cider. Cosy enough little pub, with what looked like a band of loyal regulars.

Nice pub with a real mix of clientle with good service from the bar staff. 6 Ales on tried Butty Bach and EPA both in good nick. Decent good value food.

Good pub with a choice of 6 interesting ales - I tried the Beer Works Corpse Nailer, was expecting a dark Winter ale & actually got a pleasant citrusy beer useful for a Summers day (it was November) - hope pub didn't mix barrels up. Beer was around 3/pint. Couple of TV's, lots Xmas decorations & a homely feel made it something to saviour in the near future.

Really nice pub. Good mix of uni students and regular clientel. great food, large portions, good beer and friendly staff. Prices are fantastic. Aston uni is lucky to have such a good pub on hand.

Enjoyed Shepherd Neame Rudolphs Reward and Harviestoun Bitter and Twisted in this busy pub near the University. Lot of football fans in with a friendly hum of conversation and cheerful busy staff. Food menu looked good too.

Not a bad pub, as has been said previously staff are pretty sound. Food sometimes takes a while to arrive in busy periods but for the most part it can be forgiven. The only downside is its one of Mitchell & Butler's Town pubs - but again, easily forgiven.

Nice staff, landlord is a good bloke and theres a decent food menu for considering its a fairly small place. Typical selection of beers. There is also an acoustic night on Sundays which is a good laugh ussually

Decent enough "real" pub serving Aston University (tho' mainly older crowd on Sunday) - decent Deuchars and cheap food, attractive pub.
