please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Two kindly very old gentlemen seem to run the place which seemed quite brave as the regulars on a Friday night did seem to be the type not to take liberties although doubtless they probably sort out their own battles and won't have trouble "in arr boozer."
I enjoyed my quick pint though,no-one bothered me,the pub was well run and clean and tidy with a good pint of Guinness and it was nice to see a pub in London full of down to earth genuine born and bred Londoners.

NO REAL ALE. I have asked several times but the otherwise kindly gentleman who runs the place refuses. I think it might be an Irish thing. It's a shame because ever since the Admiral Mann closed many people who come here if they'd only serve even a single real ale. Otherwise this is a beautiful boozer.

Excellent traditional little pub full of regulars and an obliging owner. Pool table and an attractive interior. Nice little beer garden too.

Busy when the Arsenal are playing.

Love it. A pub that's kept it's style and continues to do well. I used to live next door and the reviewers are talking about the smae kind of pub that it was thirty years ago. Whenever I go back it feels like home. Decent beer. A friendly smile and a perpetual feeling of lazy Sunday afternoons. Excellent corner pub.

A welcoming pub, great staff, diverse punters, little or no trouble, managed to keep drugs on the down low so as not to cause any ag in the pub, good garden area for the middle of concrete city, good old fashioned friendly place, safe for females that fancy a drink by themselves

only used this place for a solitary drink in the afternoon when I have a day off work on a weekday,a real wee oasis, seems miles away from it"s actual location, has the feel of a back street pub thou it"s located on the main Parkhurst Road just a few minutes away from Holloway Prison.A couple of tv"s,a decent juke box(like to blast out Dylans, Like a Rolling Stone)every now and then and also a decent pool table.

It is really a gem of a pub inside, friendly crowd to watch a match in and good table for pool. It's a proper Islington pub!

Perfect for celebrating our eldest daughter's release from Holloway prison! After 2 years banged up, she certainly wasn't going to complain about the pint or anything.

Love it.
The landlord is constantly adapting his outside area to accommodate smokers in all and any bother inside is apparently swiftly dealt with - "apparently" because I have yet to see any bother at all since regularly coming here from around a year ago.
Pints all under 3 - although sadly still no ale.
Sky/Setanta an' all.
Highly recommended if you are in the area and crave friendly staff (including the entertaining Sean) and equally friendly punters to welcom you in.
Well kept, good ole' boozer.

A close call. All the Prince requires is a couple of real ales and a slight dimming of the lights for a 10. A beautiful place with the best of staff so certainly worthy of regular visitation.

As a regular after work visitor I'd say that this was definitely one of the best pubs in the area. I know it as having a good jukey and decent lager (shame no ales) as well as a friendly atmosphere in the early evening.

What can I say - as as foreigner from South Africa in the 90's I was welcomed with open arms into the Prince Edward Family. I'm not into posey places and The Edward is definitely a pub where one can just be, without any airs and graces. A real place to relax, unwind and enjoy a few games of pool - where at the time the gals were better than the guys. The owner at the time was Avril and her hubby and the bar staff Sean,Brian & Maureen. Just want to thank them for my many hangovers - never got to do that before! Also remember the greats of the pub - Sully, Kieran, Wally & Alison, Con...the list goes on...still miss you guys intensely and hope that we may be in contact again one day. I am so glad that I ventured off the street into The Edward as I would never have known one of the best pubs in the world - well to me anyway. as Arnie says....I will be back - gotta put a few more coins into the jukebox you know. xxx

On the plus side : a mad mix of thinking, talking people, broken-nosed aged fake gangsters and Arsenal fans - who are bad losers (rather like Australians). The atmosphere varies from boisterous, lively, good-natured with intrigue, to funereal. It is impossible to predict : Mondays/Wednesdays can be electric ; Saturdays, dire.
Sunday afternoons are nearly always fun.

The bar staff are almost always positive additions . One exception, a few years ago : a tall know-all with distressingly long false fingernails, who could upset certain regulars by merely looking at them ; who professed to speak French, thinking no-one else could. But we did, so she didn't try that one again. The head barman, Sean, couldn't speak English when he first arrived in England, 25 years ago. And nothing's changed there.

On the minus side : the beer is expensive, the Guinness is bitter and there is no bitter on sale.

Really friendly staff, good beer, reasonably priced, great wurlitzer juke box. No fancy gastro/media/poncey atmosphere here, a proper boozer for proper boozers

It's like finding an oasis in a desert, must rate as one of the better pubs in the area. Nice and clean and friendly, and reasonable price for the lager.

It's great! A real local, and a nice change from the studenty ber-chain pubs of Holloway Road. I've never felt so comfortable walking into a pub as an outsider.

Best Guiness in North London, great atmosphere and the locals are friendly. Not trendy or cool but definately worth checking out for an authentic North London pub.

Great local pub, no poncy people. Best time to go is when Arsenal are on the TV. Suggs from Madness drinks there.
