Sunday was my first visit to this place on the edge of the city centre. It has a run-down feel (in a good way, if that is possible). There were only 3 other customers and a large dog hanging around the bar. Ales were all from the Two Towers brewery - Complete Muppetry, Hockley Gold, Chamberlain Pale Ale, Baskerville Bitter, Rennaissance & Ringbearer. I opted for the Ringbearer, an 8% barley wine. I normally enjoy a barley wine. But, this seemed a long way off its best. Certainly a pub with plenty of character though.

A terrific find. Scuzzy and a scruffy but none the worse for that while beers from the Two Towers brewery (the pub is that business's tap) were in good shape. Filled rolls were well presented and there is a relaxed spaciousness to the building. 'Complete Muppetry' is a great name for a beer too.

Very friendly pub - both the bar staff and the regulars.
Tap House for the Two Towers Brewery. Had a Hockley Gold - first ever - good condition but maybe too hoppy for my tastes. Would need more to give an opinion!
Excellent Jukebox.
Worth seeking out - only 5 mins from Snow Hill Station.

Pleasant tap of the Two Towers Brewery offering a friendly welcome and relaxed atmosphere. Tried three of the ales: Birmingham Mild was the best to my palate. Worth a visit. 8/10.

Basic pub with not a lot going for it other than the fact that it is the taphouse for Two Towers Brewery so I was at last able to have a pint of "Bhacker Ackhams" as well as "Complete Muppetry". As one might expect when the beers are brewed on the premises, they were in good condition - but neither pint was that distinctive in taste. The lack of customers made me worry about the future of this place though.

It may have got off to a slow start. Beer goes down well, the staff enjoy serving a Birmingham made beer and I see people drinking beer who at one time would only drink the larger..
I recommend you visit and judge for your self.

Oh an extra point for losing the apostrophe I erroneously included in my previous post.

Now operating as a Two Towers outlet in much the same way as the ill fated Brown Lion over the road in the Jewellery Quarter. Smart, comfortable, discreetly lit but rather minimalistic. All five pumps had Two Towers product, not my favourite brews I have to admit, but I gather guest beers do show up. Prices are good by edge of city standards, and I think I spied a couple of table football machines resting at the rear of the pub. One feels the Gunmaker's will have to so some creative thinking to attract regular punters to this somewhat obscure location, or find a stronger identity for itself especially as its immediate competition is provided by the well established The Bull, just a minute's walk around the corner. Still a resurgent, traditional pub representing a local brewery is always encouraging and I hope it is supported. It's early days for the Gunmaker's but at the moment it's a safe 6/10.

Underappreciated corner pub between the Gun Quarter of Birmingham and the main road. Two good beers on (at least). Cosy.

Yet another visit, a good pint of Monty's Mo Jo 3.8, next will be Monty's Ding Ding 4.4.
The beer well kept, goes down well.

Realised this was open when visted the bull recently. Was pleasantly suprised when i went in as its larger than i expected. I liked the lay out as the bar is in the middle of both rooms. Very clean and tidy inside with some modern decor but keeping its very tradiotional british pub feel. The owner (whom i think is czech) was very friendly. As we were leaving we noticed another room with a tv and pool table with a large patio at the back. Love the location as well.

Rumour on the street say this pub is due to reopen.
Not sure if this is true, have seen lights on the last few weeks but no movement.
Can not give a rating, but will if the doors reopen

This the Gunmakers have closed down now. Last time I was in there I was talking to the landlord and he was being evicted apparently; wanted to buy the place of Mitchell & Butler but they wouldn't give him a fair price so he stopped buying beer of them and then stopped paying the rent! Shame though, was a nice pub - if only atmospherically rather than aesthetically.

A nice backstreet Birmingham pub with friendly staff & customers.

I was at the "GunMakers" last night and it was not my first visit this week.
It was nice to see some newfaces in the pub.
Hope to see others discover the pub soon.

I have known of this pub for years, it was a very small pub.
Well I made a visit the other day to find that major work been done to the place.
The inside looks like the "tardus" but I did not see Dr who, he may have been in some corner.
The garden is like another room.
Sam just needs people to discover the place, if the sun would come out the garden be great place to spend to afternoon.
Well worth a visit.

This place really is a gem! having worked in the building trade a number of years now i really never thought i would learn another skill but hang in there... after only 20 seconds in the place i was taught how to pull the perfect pint, cash up and empty the glass washer... cant wait until friday night, as i have yet to master the art of door control person! but im sure i will soon get the hang of it,.... well thats if im not the entertainment? good food good atmosphere all round excellent pub!

This great pub, recently refurbished by the current landlord to a high degree, tucked away in the heart of the Gun Quarter is a really friendly place to go for a lunchtime drink and a nice meal. The besthomemade stew I have tasted and a cracking Chicken Curry or Chilli Con Carne, all at reasonable prices.
Then in the evening there is a really good atmosphere. With regular entertainment now coming on stream on Fridays / Saturdays and I hear even Sundays in the future.
No machines or loud juke boxes just the sound of good friendly banter.
The landlord make severyone feel very welcome

upon entering this place for the first time we were met by three scary looking, large bald men. I was not up for staying untill I realised they were all sipping half pints of Baileys and began singing along to a medley of Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday records. The wedding rings were the only give away that we had not, infact, wandered into a gay bar.So we stayed.not a bad pint either.
