I was a bit wary of this place on stepping in - it appeared very much a 'bar' rather than a pub. However, we were well looked after, beer was fine, the place was comfortable. Can't argue with good old fashioned hospitality.

Nice enough pub , a little bit too shiny with sports channel tvs on the walls but the bar is too small to stand at and the beer choice is fairly small . My amstel was a little on the flat side , and the food dissapointing.
But the staff were friendly and its probably still the best pub in the vicinity .

Just been on a stag party in Edinburgh and spent lot sof time in Mercat. Graham and his staff are very attentive and friendly, they could't have done any more to make our stay more pleasant. Graham and his staff especially Niamh helped to make the weekend extra special.

Went there before the rugby at the weekend... good bar and great staff... they were extremely friendly and helpful

Very nice Bar now that the renovation of the Bar is complete. As stated elsewhere Graeme knows whaat he is doing with regard to running the place and looking after everybody!

Haggis meatballs were OUTSTANDING ... MUST TRY ... food, in general, was excellent! Atmosphere was very pubby ... not so much sports bar, although there several nice sized flatscreen tvs at the bar. DEFINITE must try, especially since there is new management!

Very average choice of beers - Tennants, Budweiser, Stella lagers plus Belhaven (I think) and maybe Guinness. Ground floor is a sports bar. Basement is a venue and is dressed for it. Maybe I should go and check a gig there sometime.
