This has been refurbished and is now THE DRAPERS ARMS, owned by the Stonegate Pub Company. In many respects it resembles a Wetherspoons with a reasonable range of half a dozen real ales, brightly lit but not overbearingly so, and very busy young bar-staff. We went for the £8.45 for 2 meals option, and although one has to accept that you get what you pay for the grub was disappointing. My chicken curry slice was not very nice, the peas were few in number and rock-hard, although the chips were good. This was the busiest pub on our 10-pub crawl. It's OK but lacking in character.

Used to be a hardware store. More useful than The Old Proverbial and now redecorated and branded Drapers Arms (a "traditional style pub"). Plenty of actual traditional style pubs nearby so not sure why anyone would bother.

a soul less place, beer is not that well kept, the no trainers rule is a joke, turning away respectable people who were popping in for a drink! They turned away my friend who is a 40+ professional!

Loved this pub a year or so ago, was out last weekend and went back in there with girlfriends and its still a friendly place. Staff are happy and service was good even though they are busy. Only criticism is it seems to have changed worryingly into somewhat of a chemist in the toilets! Shocking.

OK at lunchtimes but no tainer rule in the evening is just plain daft.

No trainer rule? Me and my friend got in wearing army boots.
Any how, very crowded during evening and night, loud, young people mostly. Berr was alright though! They had aLondon Pride and 'Fork Handles' or 'Four Candles', how ever it is said. The Four Candles was lovely, really nice taste.

A welcome addition?! Hardly... the no trainer rule is just plain daft, the food (tried only once, never again) horrible (soggy chips, cold spots in meat, salad on it's last legs) tables aren't cleaned enough glasses and spilt drinks (and this was early before it got busy) and the staff are indifferent, not at all friendly and welcoming. Sorry but I don't rate this highly at all compared to others on offer in the High Street, it's trying to be a posh wine bar but failing miserably.

A welcomed addition to the high street. Staff are friendly and there is a good choice of seating areas and good visibility for viewing the screens for the football games. Ate in here once and food was good. No Ale is a decent local pint as well.
They asked my 31 year old girlfriend to produce ID so if you are young looking for your years be warned.

If you dare to wear trainers after 7pm the boucers are rude and won't let you in - WHY?!!! None of the other pubs in the Old Town have a trainer rule, how ridiculous! We went in 'sans trainers' the other week (My friend's celebration so had to - I boycott it at all costs usually) and were served after a very long wait by unhelpful bar staff, found a table which was covered in rubbish, drinks and general stickiness, and had a good look around thinking that it wasn't a place I would come back to again even without the trainer rule in all honesty - the place has started to get shabby already even though it hasn't been open for long. It's not just me being fussy here - other people I know have had worse experiences there however I just don't like bars where you can't wear trainers!

A modern and very nice bar. Good to watch the football in during midweek and gets very busy on Friday and Saturday nights with some top talent. Everyone in there seems to be over 21 which is good and the food is pretty good too. Cant really fault it.

I like this place. Modern decor and sexy bar staff. Good for a spot of lunch, reasonably priced. Their ale was a bit dodgy for a while, all had a cold haze but that seems to be fixed now. Sky Sports is shown, so also good for the odd match.

New bar opened a few weeks ago. Contemporary decor, 8 real ales, decent food offering, nice back bar, lots of space, comfortable, SKY TV screens. One of the Baracuda Bars I believe.
