An ideal stopover after a charming journey on the tramway from Seaton. Spacious and classy with good local ales on tap from Otter and Branscombe. Could have done without the West Ham memorabilia though.

A great destination pub if you arrive by the Seaton tramway. Good selection of ales and other drinks too. We had a sandwich here for lunch and it was lovely and of a very good standard. Nice simple layout too with a smallish tidy garden. My only complaint is that they should open all day Saturday in the summer as the place was very busy with tourists and locals and it seemed odd too close when like this.

I have visited this great little pub on several occasions over the years. A real cross section of friendly customers, most of them local people (Devon accents abound!). Very welcoming landlord and staff, good beer and an excellent Sunday lunch at a very reasonable price - what more could you ask for?

Can many of the pubs that are in East Devon/West Dorset please give some of their expertise and wiseness to pubs in Surrey/SW London. Another great little pub in a lovely little town (yes Colyton is a town) with very friendly locals and staff and an excellent selection of Devonian ales, smartly decorated with Horse Racing pictures, old town photos and flowers, though nothing in relation to a certain England/Liverpool midfielder!
Will try to get back when in the area next week - it is on the tramway from Seaton.

Fantastic little pub. Good beer and cider, a friendly welcome and fantastic food at a very reasonable price. What a pity they only cook Fri/Sat nites and sun lunch. Well worth a visit

I popped in one lunchtime and soon got chatting to the locals. There were some good local ales - i've tasted better. Nevertheless, this is a true community pub, which caters for the locals and welcomes visitors. If you are in East Devon, it is one to visit. It is unpretentious, basic and all the more charming for it. Every village needs one like this. Dogs, walkers, and children were made welcome. Good stuff.

A proper pub with basic furniture and no chintzy frills. We stayed in Colyton for a week this summer, and enjoyed this pub's vibrant community spirit, the excellent range of well-kept beers from local small breweries, the unpretentious good-value food, and the friendly welcome. This felt much more like a well-used unpretentious traditional locals' pub than The Kingfisher down the road.
This is how pubs should be. Recommended.

Enjoyable basic pub used by friendly locals. Enjoyed my meal in the rear garden. The horse drawn transport takes you down to the station in summer.
