Visited for the first time tonight and glad I hadn't read some of the previous comments as I may well have been put off.
Two ales on tap - went for the Doombar which was 3.45 a pint and very drinkable. Dids ask, but no Camra discount available.
Sat in the garden which was very pleasant - and big - as is the inside of the boozer. Bit of a warren of rooms.
Staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful which always makes a big difference.
My wife and I ate - starters averaged out around a fiver each and mains around 9-10. Nice food and decent portion sizes, with plenty of variety on the menu. Pub grub well done.
Bells from the church opposite were pretty noisy but I guess that's a lot better than plenty of people chattering away on their mobile phones or tinny background music.

The landlord and staff are friendly and make you feel welcome.

Green King IPA and a guest beer keeps me happy as does the quality of the food. I have eaten there twice and enjoyed both times.

The menu is very good so can only assume it has improved a lot since the earlier (less flattering) review.

Pity we had such a wet summer, the garden is enormous with plenty of space for kids.

I'd happily receommend this as a 'local' to anyone.

An attractive 18th Century coaching inn with low ceilings, wooden floors and timber beams, that I suspect arent original. There are two large rooms including a restaurant section and a few sofas dotted around. Attractive garden at the rear that has nice views. There are two real ales pumps and service is friendly and attentive. I only spent around 10 minutes there, whilst waiting for a bus, but I liked it and imagine it is very popular, being in an area that has lost a number of pubs in recent years.

Went there with a few work colleagues on a Friday. It was very busy lunchtime so we were glad we had booked. Lovely food (although they had run out of the sea - bass special which I had started to look forward to!), friendly landlord and nice surroundings.

Very good food, has a separate no smoking area or you can eat in the lounge bar if you want to smoke. Good choice of cask ales and over a dozen wines by the glass. Staff are great, very friendly

michael is the landlord. not very good to take children to,nothing for them to do. got a nice big garden, amazing in the summer though its not used to it potential.could benefit from a play area for kids and the odd barbque to get people up there.resteraunt is usually busy, not eaten there myself other than staff meal years ago, pretty normal. (it was fresh though.)
