Now reopened as "T.J.'s".
Noticed the place is being painted up outside, inside given a clean, no doubt will open again soon as another vertical drinking, bland, identikit chav outlet.
Now closed, looks good down here, Broadwalk - closed, The Flag - closed, the Glasshouse - closed...... what a tip Swindon is.
This bar has been bought out by Cavendish bars and will be rebranded as Wahoo. An American bar and grill.
When it first opened people queued to get in here on Friday and Saturday nights, not so now, word on the street is that it will shortly be joining the 'closed and boarded' section of Swindons pub selection.
They try to over load to many people in here, and full of love myself chavs...

I enjoyed Walkabout, but its really busy all the time, and hard to get served. Toilets were clean and there was an area away from the tiolet cubicles where you could refresh your make up or hair lol, great for us ladies ;) Door staff there were really welcoming and i didn't feel at all intimidated by them. The bar staff were very friendly too. The smoking area was situated outside the front of the pub and had plenty of seats and tables.
Good atmosphere and big dancefloor, shame about the toilets...
plastic glasses and chavs, not nice.......
opps, just re-read comment, not 9 to get, they charge at 9 to get in... that does suck though!
the only place i will go out in swindon. always a great time, especially on a thursday night. no entry fee and not as packed as a saturday but still busy. hot bar staff, most of the time... dont know where the person below got 9 for entry but on a saturday night its only 3 to get in, same as most others. if i wasnt moving this weekend i would be there right now!!

The Walkabout is fairly typical of the cavernous pubs in the town centre.
Its generally pretty quiet mid-week but comes to life Friday/Saturday with avengence.
The usual Aussie beers on tap and bottled VB bitter .
A bank of video screens line the bar area, presumeably to keep you amused while you queue to be served.

Went in fairly early on a recent Saturday as somewhere different to watch football, won't rush back. Barstaff were attentive, although that's fairly easy when you're not busy, didn't order food but what came past us looked pretty good, no real ale. On the down side the whole of the bar top was sticky, which for me is unforgiveable especially so soon after opening, it must have been last nights spillage, and the lady carrying the radio and showing bottom cleavage was offputting to say the least. watched footie and left pretty promptly.

This is the pub which refused entry on the grounds of dress code to a young lady with leukemia who had undergone chemotherapy and was wearing a baseball cap to hide her hair loss. That constitutes pretty dim doorstaff and management in my book.

Walkabout is ok for a stop-gap or for live music on a Thursday. It's quite pricey and they charge to get in around 9:00! The ques to get in at the end of the night are ridiculous. You'll be stood on glass all night. Seems to be a good place for singletons! And on the plus side they serve Snake Bite :-)

Is a nice clean bar with a good atmosphere. Really busy and seemed a bit overcrowded. Expensive and not much choice of drinks. DJ was good and doorstaff were friendly.
is quite a good bar. thing is they let too many people in. too expensive. the bouncers are rude as hell. the music is good though. the toilets are a state. then again there is pretty much nowhere in swindon with nice toilets. any day of the week. last time i went there though my friend's drink got spiked after putting it down for 10 seconds. unless your australian your not wanted there.
it's a walkabout and very small compared to other ones at that, although does try to authentically australian but they are all whiners anyway, so what's the point. Good for live music true but full of indie-boys when it is
Australian themed bar serving oz drinks and food they serve ostrich and crocodile but sorry - vegemite to be seen!!! The food service is great, the drinks range fantastic and well priced, live bands are in every week, the venie seems very popular with rockers and cheesers. It gets packed on a Friday night and you often have to queue to get in. Great if you want a bit of cheesy dance music on a friday night and some ozzie surfer dude to drool over you..... each to their own. You either love it or you hate it.
