Another typical Sam Smith pub: on my visit there was plenty of conversation. Friendly welcome and efficient service. OBB at £1.90 a pint. 9/10.

First pub we managed to find open in a very deserted Hull city centre yesterday. This was a very pleasant Sam Smiths pub with one large room with the large bar counter and a couple of smaller rooms the other side of the bar. The clientele was all elderly men, each sat on their own in the main bar, with no conversation except amongst our group. The only woman was the barmaid, until a couple came in and went into one of the smaller rooms. Nevertheless, I do like this kind of pub. It is a typical town/city centre interior with some nice features and friendly service. Usual cheap Sam Smiths prices too and OBB on handpull.

Proper 3-room boozer, even retains vestiges of a serving hatch! New landlord tends to dress as if he's just about to do a hard stint in the garden but no-one seems to mind. Usual SS brews at usual SS prices.

Great Sam Smiths pub. i use it regularly when out round town on a weekend. The lounge area seems to be full of locals that have been going in there since it was built centuries ago. The longish corridor style main area is full of mostly older people. Beer Sam Smiths of course great prices nice kept ale and friendly staff. I belive there is a games room upstairs or use to be. Got a dart board downstairs. The only downside realy is it's a bit dated now and could do with a lick of paint at least.

Saw the large Blue Bell sign outside, but still missed the alley way and so entered the indoor market, quick walk through and tried again. What a splendid place, okay as I'm retired I appreciated the 'mod cons'!!! smashing place. Being Sam Smith's good prices and had a nice drink of Taddy Lager - I don't usually drink lager!! Lovely place

Surprisingly large pub tucked up a long alley from the High Street. A Sam Smith's pub so your cask choice is OBB or OBB, fortunately not badly kept and of course a good price - 1.44. Other Sam Smiths beers are available but nowt else. A down to earth boozers pub busy with a lot of hat wearing wrinklies spending their pensions this Friday. I noticed a wooden spoon and a plastic willy both labelled Derek's but was too shy to ask what it all meant especially as this appears to be the home of Hull's winner of the most miserable barmaid competion.

Great pub with an interesting food policy - at least when I was last in a couple of years ago. The menu is only a guide: you make your choice and the chef disappears into the adjoining covered market to see if they've got the ingedients, and reports back. Sometimes several trips have to be made before the contents are agreed. This means the resulting meal is as fresh as it could possibly be ... but may bear little resemblence to your original choice!

Nice pub, great beer, only nagging points is they didn't seem to have the full range of Sam Smith's that I've seen in their other pubs. That and the peculiar smell.

The pub's great but if you don't like Sam Smith's you're snookered. It's very cheap of course and a nice atmosphere. Worth dropping in if you're on an Old Town crawl.

Sam smiths is great once you get into it. The pub is quite "locally" but accessible enough. Pool table upstairs and is a pretty unspoilt place.

Always has been a great boozer , i used to go here in the 80s and it was good then . I went recently and it still is , well done to them.

A lovely pint of Sam Smith's. Always great locals in the Bell. My favourite thing in the green man carved behind the bar.

Yet another Sam Smiths classic old pub - what can you say about them - Bitter OK
