Optimal location at the Royal Square. Large outdoor seating area, I had lunch there twice, but the second time service was extremely slow. Liberation on cask, a few keg beers.

Right next door to "The Peirson" which makes for a short pub crawl! Small downstairs and upstairs bars but has a big ouside drinking area which is nice on a summer evening, sells "liberation" brewery beer which is ok but that is it for the real ale selection, good barstaff and a relaxed atmosphere.
|
Another visit as this pub is excellent for a beer a snack and people watching. Always busy due to its location but we got a table OK. Liberation Ale was fine if not spectacular and they now offer a Craft Blonde Beer as well. Waiter/ress service appears only to be for food.

Nice pub lots of character. Just the one hand-pull: Liberation. Extensive outdoor seating area in the Square. I tried the Liberation Craft Ale (on font rather than hand pull) which was very tasty. Food menu looked interesting although we didn't try it.
|
Decent pub, 1 ale - Liberation. Great outdoor seating area.

Returned again this year for a beer and a snack. Beer was fine (Liberation Ale) and the sandwiches were OK but a bit mean on filling for the price. Still I expect you pay for the location and it is lovely on a nice warm day - we sat and watched the world go by, just at the back of the main shopping street.

Handy location, nice pub on two floors, but upstairs bar closed as visited on a quiet sunday afternoon. I would come back again as had a nice cosy feel on a cold winters afternoon.
|
Agreed - very pleasant with good beer and a nice cup of coffee for the wife !!
|
A decent pub with a well kept Liberation cask ale available and a large outside seating area on the square.

Visited on the evening of Feb 24th '09. Pub was empty. Beer was frothy Jersey Best, so uninspiring. Won't bother to return.
|
Location, location, location! If this pub were anywhere else it wouldn't be worth bothering with, but being at the end of a sunny square, with tables outside, makes it worth a visit. Beer, in common with most of the pubs on the island, was just a selection of kegs. Food ok.
|
Usually vist this pub when in town, if you can get a seat outside it is better as you can watch the world go by, people watch and if sunny get a tan as well. Downside is too many Dammed pigeons. Worth a visit to see for yourself.

I enjoyed this pub. It was getting dark but we sat outside anyway and watched the square from the cafe-type tables.
The first beer I had (Jimmy's) tasted awful, but the bar staff agreed and were happy to change it for a Jersey Special which was very nice.
Would definitely consider going there again.

Mostly a very succesful food pub in the central square. Beer was a bit ropey, but hopefully that's a one off. Bit too manic and busy for me, full of children running about. Good enough but wouldn't choose to go back.

Can't comment on the beer here as I was refused service for wearing a football shirt. Had I been part of a 20-strong stag party playing up then fair enough but I was there with my girlfriend and had spent all day at the zoo! Ever heard of common sense?
