I quite liked this pub. Whilst it's not far from the Streatham High Road, it feels a world away. Only 2 beers were on - the pubs own Earl Ferrers Bitter from the Ascot brewery & Sambrooks Wandle. Both Addlestones and Westons Old Rosie ciders were available. There were more handpulls and I'd hazard a guess that they normally have more than just the 2 beers on at any one time. The clientele appeared to be a band of regulars plus couples out for an evening meal and a quiet drink. Service was fine. No sign of any children on my visit. My second favourite pub of 10 I tried on Monday evening.

I had read really good things about this pub but a couple of sundays ago it was a like a creche - lots of little kiddies and their adoring parents everywhere. Yikes.
And, despite the huge range of pump clips displayed on the wall behind the bar, four out of five real ale pumps were out of action. Only Sambrook's Wandle available, which was fine, but then that too ran out....
I'm sure it could be lovely - the food was decent - but that afternoon it was not one of London's top ten pubs.

Some of the friendliest bar staff I've met (offered a free sample), and a good family atmosphere and good quality pub that is similar in feel to some of N1's finest.
always has been the hidden gem of streatham....keep it quiet...we dont want to ruin it...
What a great local pub. Moved to area recently and found this treasure. Staff very friendly and helpful, beer great quality and ever changing guest ales and the food looks good and reasonably priced.
Just wish had more time to visit!

what can i say about this pub well its a lovley back street pub i visited here the weekend unfortunatly the guy behind the bar with the long dreds was so very slow at serving i could of served them all it took me about half hour or so to get a drink there was only 4 other people waiting i think they need to get bar staff who are quicker at serving then this guy unfortunatly i wont be returning unless they get new staff in
Still the best pub in Streatham - no changes to note. Sambrooks' Wandle, Junction and Powerhouse Porter on draught.
I visited for the first time last night and it was excellent. Really good range of local beers- drank some very fine Sambrook's, locals and staff made us feel welcome and really pleasant atmosphere. We didn't try the food but it looked interesting and good value. Beating my mate at pool just made it even better.

The Earl Ferrers is just a few minutes' walk from where I live but I haven't visited in a while. I'm not sure why this is so but maybe it's good not to visit too often. They have decent local ales. The food is tasty if a little expensive. There's a really nice atmosphere and I love that they were playing Stereolab and that they are down a side street.

For some reason Streatham has a dearth of decent pubs. Taylors is the pick of a bad bunch on the high road but the two best ones by far are this and The Railway.
This is quite hidden away but well worth finding as its a little gem. It's small & homely, sunday lunch is great (and busy so book ahead if you can), and there's a nice selection of beers. On our first visit we were welcomed really warmly & the food we've eaten there has always been very tasty. Unlike so many pubs they actually seem to care if you will return or not.

Popped in for a quick Xmas Eve beer, stayed for two - situation normal. The best pub in the area although the Leigham Arms is closer to my home; great atmosphere, two real ales on (Twickenham Original and Christmas Cheer) and a really inclusive local feel. Bit dim in the evening to read and there's music on so not a quiet drink tonight - but a funky playlist. Friends have had food here recently and recommend it. Hard to fault.

Closed at 13:45 last Thursday, & I now see from their website that they don't open until 16:00 weekdays. No rating.
Nice local pub which has local beer including Sambrook's Wandle, good food - pollock and chips was good - and a pleasant atmosphere. There is even a pool table round the side as well as a dartboard though that seems to just be there for decoration. All sorts of people in there and friendly staff who were very eager to replace my drink because the barrel had gone on too recently - and concerned I might not like to have a handle jug! I went on as you may imagine to sample several more pints. 'It's like you're at a party' - well, I was actually as it was a friend's birthday, but I can see how it might be that way anyway. The website is good too, a bit dark but there is no pointless Flash and it includes a beer list, not just wine! Too many of these sites ignore the beer. Worth a top rating.

I've lived in this area for over four years and there are some great pubs in the area (and many more bad ones). The Earl Ferrers since being turned around by new owners in mid-2008 has gone from strength to strength.
I go in there at least twice a week and there are different ales every time, always excellently kept. The selection of lagers is also good. Food is excellent, personal favourites being the cheese plate and gourmet burger. For the price this is some of the best food in the area.

This pub is absolute quality.Great food, great music and a top atmosphere.Friendly staff and friendly locals.Streatham has been crying out for a pub like this for years and now it needs cry no more.Long live the Ferrers.

I don't know what on earth Greedy Boy is talking about - this pub is the local I have been looking for since moving to this area 6 years ago! I certainly haven't found it lacking in cleanliness. Lovely location, this is a relaxed, unpretentious neighbourhood pub that only seems to be doing well by word of mouth as it's so hidden away. The management are doing an inspired job of making it exceptional on every level and they don't seem to be overdoing it either. Excellent varied beers on tap including guest beers, excellent and plentiful and inexpensive food, high quality live entertainment, warm friendly staff, child-friendly, no big screen, no fruit machines, no loud music, lovely decor (a bit shabby admittedly but I think there are moves to update that shortly) and best of all, the atmosphere is the friendliest I have come across in a London pub in years. Everyone seems willing to chat to each other, it's like you're at a party. Let the good times roll!
The Ferrers used to be a really nice pub, & I used to often drink there. However, it's now let down by sticky tables, grubby dcor and dirty/lipstick-stained glasses (which also frequently smell of disinfectant). Yukkety yuk! Needs to be cleaned-up and maintained properly - maybe Kim & Aggie (or failing that, Lambeth Council's Environmental Health Department) should pay a visit!
The outstanding pub in the area in my humble opinion. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff who enjoy working there, outstanding music and great food. Go and check it out - you'll not be disappointed
Great music (including live music when we were there), pool table, dart board, lovely beer, friendly staff, great atmosphere. Everything you could want in a pub I reckon.
Lovely friendly local pub with good food and a laid back lounge feel. Pool table, comfy seating and great music. This was my first visit but it already feels like a home from home and we plan to come back soon.
Great pub Great food-Really good atmosphere. The Earl Ferrers is a shining example of what a well run pub should be-An atmosphere that is welcoming and fun without trying to hard.A great menu which caters for all-Even Vegititarians! And a well stocked selection of drinks and most importantly really good music. If you have not tried it and you live in Streatham well welcome to your new local.
The food is now back on the menu folks!
Had brunch this morning, it was goooooodddddddd!! Just the thing for a hangover and booked for Sunday lunch tomorrow.
Duncan and Abby are great chefs, long may it last!!
The Earl has re-opened
Its bigger (they now have a little bit of a beer garden in back) and better than ever. There are loads of new wines and spirits whilst they still have the real ales which I like.
The Quiz night is back on Wednesday nights and there have been a few barbecue's and parties since it re-opened.
I spoke to the new landlords and they are going to be starting food soon, so watch this space.
After many months closed it is fab to see the Earl open once again. Quality local, new management doing a great job - lets hope the locals support it given its location off the beaten track. Sunday roasts are welcomed although variable.
Really glad to see this place is back open and the new management seem like they've got some good ideas. The landlord is a chef so there should be a good menu coming up.
I've just moved from Streatham and this is the thing I will miss the most. And quite possibly the only thing.
Looks good - dark wood, green inside. Tasty pint of Pride. Feels as though it should be gastro, but only snacks on the menu. There is a pool table, which would usually be a bad thing, but it's sectioned off from the rest of the pub. Very quiet when we were there.
This is my local and i'm over the moon is back open, pool table is back and a fruit machine and now I don't need to work up to the main road to drink warm flat beer as the pint I had was reasonably priced and served perfectly - look forward to the entertainment that the manager was informing me would be happening closer to Christmas!!
Pleased to see that the Ferrers is open again.
Very little change, but the new managment hope to restore the custom.
New pool table & dart board.
Fullers London Pride as Guest beer.
Quiz night (Wednesday) to return.
Due to re-open towards end of July.
The Earl Ferrers is closed for the time being( since Jan 2007). Plans are afoot for a new tenant to take over.Rumours are that a good spread of real ale should be on offer.
Apart from being a bit quiet on a Saturday night, i love this pub! Seperated in two - lounge and pool room - it allows you to play pool without hitting too many people with the cue. Great music, shame there are no real ales. I live this pub and i will certainly be going back. Maybe on quiz night!
Popped in here randomly on a Saturday night and was very impressed. It's got a good interior, a bit of charm and despite being quiet was a pleasant place to have a drink.
The pool table is in it's own small room which is also nice.
Have to agree with thehonesttruth and BillyBhoy1888. Shame about no real ales but still a good pub.
Came here a couple of nights ago for a quiet drink with the lady. And that's exactly what we got. The pub has wisely done away with the 'ABV' bar side of things, its sympathetically done out inside with really nice decor. No real ale though, and I can see why, there just aren't enough people coming to this pub. So come and have a drink here, what they do have is most of the lagers you are likely to encounter in any pub, some keg ales (Courage Best, John Smith's), nice wine, you know, the usual.
Gave up serving food - pity it's gone downhill - new manager and owner - still very clean but terribly slow service - barman wasn't sober serving us!
Nice pub with a good, friendly atmosphere. Welcoming to all. Quiz nights on Wednesdays. Streatham's best kept secret. No real ale but what they do have is well kept.
Nice friendly pub with a nice atmosphere. Recommended.

went there for the first time a month ago after finding it on beerintheevening. A great night, the friendliest pub I've been in since I've been in London. Have since been back 3 times and it wasn't a fluke. If you are going for a drink in Streatham go here

Friendly owner (Vanya), staff and locals. Nice and clean and not having that smoke-filled atmosphere. Easily the best pub in South London (and possibly a bit beyond).

Lovely, friendly staff and locals alike. The sort of pub you can walk into alone and still feel comfortable - and chances are you'll end up talking to everyone else by the end of the night anyway!

Super little friendly pub. Equally welcoming to first time visitors and locals alike. The Courage Best is a fine drop - obviously well looked after. Sunday lunches tend to be vfm (especially the big starters). Well worth a visit.

Good local, with an excellent pub quiz, good beer, and great bar staff. A mix of people from grannies and sherry to some good looking boys with Smirnoff Ice.
