Visited the Golden Lion last week for the first time in thirty years and was pleased to find it almost unchanged. There's a large open-plan interior with distinct drinking areas and a selection of pub games including darts. TV for the local sports fans was showing the last of the season's games and horse racing featured prominently.
The beer was Courage and Sharp's and was perfectly drinkable if not totally inspiring. A good experience. If there was more beer choice folk would come from far and wide to sup it tho'.

Can't say anything more than has already been said. Great pub, great people inside it. Always welcoming and friendly atmosphere even more so on darts nights. Talking of darts night you wanna see their trophy cabinet. It ain't small!

This pub is the best u can get its devoted to there darts and football. there team made it to the finals. the darts do very well and everyone is well known.

I used to be a regular in the golden lion playing darts there most nights, the governer is a great bloke and the atmosphere is brlliant, I stopped playing dars 8 years ago and only really drink when i play, i miss the pub more than the darts ...chris

Excellent traditional pub, with a friendly welcome & always busy with a steady crowd of regulars. There's pool, darts, a beer garden, juke box & with sport showing as and when in both bars - what more could you want from a pub!!!
