The Bird In Hand is located in a nice residential area. But, it no longer stocks any real ale. Keg options were Guinness, Strongbow, Fosters, Birra Moretti & Kronenbourg. Although, I'm not sure if these options were actually available as the ownership appears to have either changed recently or is about to change. Stock levels seemed to be at a minimum. The interior extends to a conservatory overlooking the garden at the rear. But, the 3 locals were all in the bar area at the front, where they were watching live Premier League football. Nice location, but disappointing pub.

A nice pub however not as good as the Two Doves in the next road. The Bird In Hand offers a good community atmosphere in a small locals pub. There has been an extension built at the rear of the building for a conservatory function room, which would be great for a wedding reception or birthday party. There is no parking provided by the establishment however there is ample unrestricted parking on the roads around the pub. They dont seem to have a large selection of ales and the draught beer is more expensive than other places however the food is good and the pub well kept. The bar staff seem to be nice enough but the management are no where to be seen, which I think is important in a small village pub such as this. Not a bad pub on the whole

A lovely little pub, very old school, but when I visited they had no ales part from Courage Best.
|
Nice pub but 3.00 a pint for Courage Best is a bit steep. No guest available when I called last Saturday.

If all locals were like this maybe so many wouldn't go bust. Really tasty beer, properly kept without that horrid yeasty aftertaste. I felt the people who run this place were actaully happy i was there, what a joy!!!!!
Definelty not in Bickey, about 2 mins up the road opposite Bromley Common bus depot..

Lovely pub with well kept ales.

They definitely are confusing this excellent little gem with that awful hole in Bickley. This pub is a listed character building, with a listed interior. It's ales are first rate (I don't know what they've got on there now as I've not been in for about three years, having moved away). It's very small, with both a lounge and a public bar. This deserves a visit by anyone who really cherishes the traditional local - and everything that goes with it, i.e. good service, good beer, and friendly company.

I rather think they are, I have not drunk there myself, but I am aware it is not in Bickley.

Erm.... are some of the people rating this pub confusing it with the bird in hand in bickley?

More a restaurant than a pub, family friendly, so was packed with screaming chavlets when I visited. Staff a touch amateurish and struggled to take a food order and pour a pint in a timely fashion. Lacks atmosphere, but generally clean and brewery-esque in it's appearance.

This is an ideal pub if you've got younger kids. The beer garden features a large wooden climbing frame, and there's plenty of room to run around. Sunday lunch is great value, and is very popular, so ensure you get there early. In the summer, you can eat outside, but beware the wasps! There's the occasional bird show in the garden, and these feature falconry etc. The beer selection isn't that bright, and they often only seem to have Tetley available on Sundays. Overall though, the service is good, friendly and attentive.

Recently been done-up, very nice - maybe a little too "restraunty"? But good, cheap food and drink.
Only downside would be it's a little out of the way - which is fine as long as you're not your designated driver!

Very pleasant pub which does a roaring trade on the food side of things - 2 course lunch for a fiver kind of thing. Huge beer garden with children's play area.
