Apparently this is the oldest pub in town. You can certainly sense the character and history of this place, which is tucked down a narrow passageway off the High Street. There is a lovely small snug with its own access to the bar. We had decided to eat here. Food was really nice. Although, it does come at a price. There are also 3 real ales from the Lowland Brewery in Lockerbie. These were Dryfe Blonde, Twa Dugs & Santa's Little Belter. I was a bit dubious about sampling a Christmas beer during the second week in January. But it was very enjoyable. Decent pub that is well worth a visit.

Fine pub with strong Robert Burns connections. Due to this it can get rather touristy and it is on the Burns trail so suddenly 12 Americans descend on the place all asking for a "glass of British ale". Has a tiny snug in the middle of the pub which is full of local characters, one of whom played us a tune on his mouth organ. Has a couple of cask ales but nothing out of the ordinary, but it's worth a visit for the friendly welcome and the craic. If you're over 6 foot remember to duck.

This place has died a death! Used to be heaving a few years ago but not any more. The owner insists that this is purely down to the smoking ban but its probably more to do with the price of the beer. Decent pint and decent food. Jane is really nic e but some of the other bar staff could do with a personality transplant. Very important pub from a "Burns" perspective.

Very unusual to find (and miss) as it is in a courtyard,it was only because I happened to glance down it. Lot's of Burns stuff there, not bad beer,

the 'snug' bar is tiny but great....the main bar is good but is lacking compared to the 'snug'
excellent malt selection...and 'malt o the month' specials...
