I actually think this is quite an under rated place. Decent beer and food. While not up to the standards of the pubs in Kinerton Street still worth a visit.

Very likeable smallish backstreet pub with character, well kept beer and decent service. Will return.

Rude barman practically threw my drink at me. Guinness was foul. Never coming back here!!

The Tea Clipper is a pleasant wood pannelled single room and despite the inevitable overflow from the nearby shopping streets it managed to retain a reasonable atmosphere on my midafternoon visit. It is located at the bottom end of the very pleasant Montpelier Sq ( I seem to remember a second pub at the rear right hand of the square years ago but that seems to have gone)

Ales were Marston EPA, Ringwood Best and, my choice, Hobgoblin which turned out to be rather good.

A word of warning - the toilets are not signposted properly and are in fact up the staircase on the front wall opposite the bar

If you are out and about in Knightsbridge the Tea Clipper along with the Paxtons Head are about the best options

Situated in a Knightsbridge side street not too far from Harrods is The Tea Clipper, a single bar street corner pub. The pleasant interior features bare boards and much wood panelling, with many shipping photos and prints. We learn that the pub was established in 1863, although it doesn't have that "olde pub" feel to it.

Perhaps not surprisingly, there's a rather upmarket ambience and prices for both food and drink are predictably high. There's no feeling that this is in any way a community local, but one that has set out its stall to pick up passing trade from Harrods shoppers and museum visitors.

On my recent visit, beers on were Ringwood Best, Marstons EPA and Pedigree. The Ringwood Best - 3.30p - was in good form.

This is a reasonable enough establishment, but it's not really a drinkers pub, and there's better alternatives not too far away.

Not a bad pub at all. Two decent ales on last night - Ringwood Best and Brakespear's EPA - looked like they'd been serving Oxford Gold too. Decent service, pleasant surroundings and the fish and chips were very good. A good place for a pre concert pint if heading to the Royal Albert Hall.

Nice pub, sexy landlady and good beers and bulk standard pub grub.

Nice place to waste a couple of hours and this was my local when i worked in Knightsbridge. best pub in the area and lots of famous locals if you are a celeb stalker :)))

This is a nice enough pub given its location in a popular tourist area. As has been mentioned, there is a nautical theme running through the pub and there is also a huge mirror on the back wall which had me thinking that the pub was much bigger than it actually is.

Oxford Gold, Purity Brewing Co Pure UBU and Jennings Redbreast were the ale options a week before Christmas along with a standard and premium draught selection. The barman was nice enough and he served me a decent pint of Guinness, but the barmaid was a bit moody.

There are a couple of plasma screens that were showing muted Sky Sports News, but I didnt see any signs advertising Sky Sports proper.

This place is ok for a pint or two if you are unfortunate enough to be dragged shopping by the other half, but I wouldnt make this a destination pub.

South london pussy cat and ginger queer boy are one and the same and are clearly obsessed. I'm flattered. Cheers ! Keep em coming.

Rex sums it up perfectly below. Couldn't agree more.

Real ales on were Pride, Hogsback TEA, and Sharps Cornish Coaster. Average sized corner pub with essentially nautical themed (of course) bric-a brac and prints on the walls. Bare-boarded floors and wood-panelled walls give a somewhat Spartan feel, but I found it welcoming, with the friendly and chatty barman giving my chum and I a rundown of the pubs hitherto in the area that are no more. Depressing. It would have been a very small pub at some stage, but it has clearly been extended at some stage. I thought that it was a rather nice little pub not an absolute gem, but well worth dropping in for a pint if youre in the area.

A great pub. Visited for the first time with the other half on a Saturday recently when it was pretty much rammed with a mix of Harrods and Knightsbridge shoppers, tourists, regulars and locals who seem genuinely fond of the place. People were waiting for tables to eat at.

I'd say it's a real gem, a slightly old fashioned British pub that you wouldnt want to become much more popular in case you couldnt get in there. The grub was served hot and fast, especiallly considering how busy it was. Contrary to an earlier comment, the menu makes no claims about the place being a gastropub and concentrates instead on classic pub fare with a bit of a twist, probably just to keep it interesting. The incredibly busy staff were efficient and more than friendly enough, considering... Top marks from me.

OK sort of place but nothing special. The staff were indifferent and treated everyone with the same contempt they apply to passing trade. The Doom Bar was pretty good but we didn't bother staying to sample the cuisine.

Went with a mate of mine for a nice meal in the afternoon. At first the nachos were quite nice but when the mains came over it was appalling. Burger and chips served in a bowl with a bun straight out of Iceland. No presentation and no garnish. Stale chips so bad that we didn't even finish our beers. Shame really as we spent thirty quid on what we thought was a proper gastro pub. Won't be going there in a hurry.

Not bad, pleasant enough inside with some nice touches and glasswork.

I don't recall the ale being anything particularly special, but not bad either.

Worth a pints worth of your time.

Very very nice. Good beer and friendly atmosphere

A great place to have a quality pint, with the ales kept impeccably. Under new management since August 2007, the staff is friendly, efficient, and maintains a clean, pleasant environment. The Clipper also boasts a strong menu of homemade traditional pub food that is made on site. Although I was initially attracted by the ale, the food has kept me coming back.

Has the makings of a nice pub, but I really didn't find the right atmosphere (not bad, just rather 'yah', but I suppose that should be expected from the area). I'll give it another try, though.

This pub has been much improved lately with the introduction of a new manegeress, who is very friendly and hard working keeping the place in order, it is now clean with great food and a welcomeing atmosphere. The service is good with friendly staff and its now a pleasure to spend an eveining there although it does get very busy on weekends, so get there early! This is one to try.

Great pub, great location, needs a little cleaning etc but boy does it need a manager who understands service.
The current Eastern European girl running the place would be better placed running a borstal than a place where customer retention should be the name of teh game.
The food looked great if only we could have tried any. We got there 30 minutes before they stop taking orders, wasted 20 on drinks only to be told in a bolshy tone that they had decided to close the kitchen 15 minutes early.

We moved to Beauchamp Place to the Beauchamp pub, thankfully they have great attitude there and the food was pretty good too.

Change the Manager and quick.

Such a grorgeous little pub spoilt by such a bad tempered and rude manageress. We went for Sunday lunch this week - served until 3pm and just as we'd bought a bottle of wine and settled down to ordered she walked around and snatched menus from anyone who had one and said the kitchen was closed - an order had just gone in and they would be too busy to do any more food. No apology or anything - other tables were equally annoyed by this (and her). New management definitely needed!
jcarpenter - 2 Oct 2006 18:39
The pub has lost much of its attraction in recent weeks with the absence of the lovely landlady, not helped by the Rownan Atkinson look-alike replacement. There is no substitute for personality and drive. Audrey, come back soon.

Have been here on a Friday and its busy and noisy and not too bad if slightly average, but on a weekday afternoon its dead except for some tourists picking at dry fish and chips and sipping Diet Coke. There are defintely better places to go.

If you are in the area or not make sure you pay this place a visit sometime as its an amazing pub with a fantastic food menu and good wines etc. I go here as much as I can and always receive a warm welcome from the staff who are so friendly and efficient, especially the manager Audrey. Definitely go out of your way to go here when you get a chance.

A fantastic little pub with a local atmosphere in the middle of Knightsbridge.I've lived in Knightsbridge for seven years and this pub is the best by far.Always excellent service from the girls and their food is great too. They have the best real ale in the area, keep up the good work.

A fantastic little pub with great food, great staff and a nice atmosphere. The best pub in Knightsbridge! Would definitely recommend.

The pub is OK and the Ruddles we had was fine, if a bit insipid. Didn't try the 'Pride' so that might have been better. I have to say I wasn't impressed though, as there are better pubs not too far away. Worth a look if you're feeling a bit 'shopped-out' at Harrods, but otherwise I wouln't recommend going out of your way to find it.

Would definatly go back!!

This pub is very smoke-filled and unpleasant. I wish they would mend the ventilation.
