I can't call this a pub, but I can call it a cattle market shed. Very small, takes 2 minutes to get served and music is crap.

This place is a shithole.
It's the shittiest, chaviest, scumiest, no nothing, idiot management run pub in Hampshire.

Serves its purpose. Late night central venue with music, beer and scantily clad birds. If you want culture go to an art gallery, 'cos you won't find any here.

Although I really appreciate the fact that there is a late night venue at the top of town (eventually), I think that the management could have done so much better with this place. As far as I'm aware, Winchester is supposed to be a relatively classy area, and the clientele within this place were not what I expected. A beautiful barmaid by the name of Kaelee (apologies if I get it wrong) made my night far better than I was expecting, however, that is purely a bloke thing. Chavs were abundant and the music left a lot to be desired. Despite this, during week nights, this bar has some excellent promotions. Just make sure you get there early on weekends!!

As all winchester bars/pubs, this one is totally ruined by the fact that its full of winchester 'people' nuff said.

Oh my god. Savannah is terrible. Yes, I agree that Muswells was pretty dire towards the end, but before that it was fantastic - where is Malcolm? Savannah now is full of thosewho used to visit the Guildhall (much smarter these days) and finish the night either, in the gutter outside, in a police cell or down the alley by the Porthouse.

this is a VERY ordinary bar. food quality has gone down the tube in the last couple of years - barely basic pub fare really frozen burgers and microwaved lasagne. was desperately in need of refurbishment when it was Muswells. they did the decor up, but everthing else went down hill. cheap drinks and the chav crowd keep it going on weekends when its packed to the rafters. can only assume the management is all about moving quantity of product at those times to make up for poor performance during the week. shame really, had potential to be a nice bar (it was never going to be a pub).

Despite it looking like an upmarket bar it is let down but its distinctly downmarket clientele. None the less it is fine for a couple of drinks and I have yet to see it full. OK beer, unadventurous food.

Good name, terrible pub. I'd rather share the company of animals grazing on a savannah than drink with the people in this pretentious dump. Thinking about it, most of the birds who go there look like Wildebeasts.

The food in this place is quite good, but i have to say it really lacks any definate atmosphere. There always seems to be police hanging round the place on a friday or saturday night, and on 1 occasion i saw a member of barstaff get charged for serving someone who was too drunk. Also the barstaff are always reading newspapers or chatting with friends and don't seem to be willing and happy to serve customers.

I cant understand what kim_knight is refering to!!!! Myself and my friends have been going to Savannah since it reopened 2 years ago; previously as 'Muswells' we wouldnt have set foot in there, it was full of drug abusers and the place was filthy. Now however, we go almost every weekend and occasionally during the week. The meals that we have had have been absolutely lovely, very tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. As far as all the staff are concerned, i have only ever found them to be courteous, and polite. Did Kim_knight go to the same place?? Yes, there are other great pubs in Winchester, such as O'neills and the Slug, but i would have to rate Savannah as the best all rounder, every time.

Savannah has been open a year or so and was the long awaited replacement for Muswells, which was an institution, legend, and basically rammed with fun people most weekends. Evidently this got out of hand in the end, and Savannah is all about placating the local constabulary and residents. If Muswells was a person and had a makeover to become Savannah, then it would be like what happened to Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. Quality of the drinks seemed fine if a little dear, the food looked OK, albeit a large sign has recently appeared offering 2 for 1. You can walk less than 100 metres and find a much better pub than this.
