Think Hillzy's review is rather unfair. The place does look slightly intimidating under a large block of flats but you should never judge a book by its cover. Inside was clean with the layout and chairs a little like a hotel bar. Drinkers at the bar and the lady serving were friendly with no hint of intimidation. One ale tap had its pump head turned around, probably permanently, but Smiths was just 2.80 a pint. It's not the place where you'd take someone for a hot date but if you want to spend an hour reading the paper or having a chat, it does the job.

Currently visiting a pub for every station on the London Overground. Did this one for South Hampstead. Awful, awful council estate pub, regulars are quite intimidating. Could not wait to get out. No real ale on and even the Guinness had run out. Please avoid!

Not been in this pub for months as it was closed. The Cricketers as it's now called has been turned around by the new Landlord, he's Irish!!. Popped in last Friday night with mates and was completely surprised, ended up staying for 3 hours.. Friday night live music, comedy at weekends, sport, great atmosphere, good lively crowd. great crack all round. It's good to know that a closed pub can become a great place to drink with the right person running it again..Would definately recommend this pub.

Yup, I was going to go in for a pint. That's how bored...............and brave I felt but there's a big sign saying To Rent.

Looks closed again - it was certainly shut on the night of the Champions League final, so either it's shut down or they pick very bad nights to give the staff an evening off! I think I recall reading about a plan to redevelop the rather nasty tower block this sits at the bottom of, so whether or not it will re-open I don't know.

Now renamed The Cricketers. Not been in it.

This is back open now. I popped in very briefly. No real ale; lagers only here. A very basic estate pub interior, but I didn't feel it was rough or threatening. That said, this doesn't add much to the NW6 pub scene.

Think this has now closed down.

As the author of the post below I found myself walking past here the other day and recalled the night we went in there. Anyway, there's a sign in the window saying it's closed but not for how long.

Okay if you thought The Britannia was rough check this one out. It's based under a tower block at the north end of Abbey Road. Over the years I'd been past it on numerous occasions and finally had the courage to go in one night. One of those places you go in and everyone turns and looks at you. In a mad moment I almost put some money down on the pool table. We quickly drank up and left.
