Currently closed. Still looks like a pub. But not sure if it will re-open or not.

Came across the Nelson by chance on Friday after lunch at the Ferryboat in Ship Hotel (another story)
Amazing to read the last review in 2011 - the smell!
Friendly enough pub and a wide selection of beer - I tried one from the "Beer Festival" range - not memorable as we left after only drinking a half
What a shame about this place. Wonderful building in a beautiful location. But why all the plastic pots, family photos and fairy lights - it's seen better days and the owners seem to be living in the past
What IS that smell?!

A very strange smell pervaded the whole of this pub when I visited it a couple of days ago, like a mixture of stinking wet dogs and some sort of strange room freshener. Enough Christmas lights for a whole town had been put up and were switched on, a very old lady and a white bearded old man were watching on 'on thee buses' on an old TV in the corner. He struggled up and served me a pint of Humpty dumpty brewery beer from the cellar, although handpumps seemed to be in use on the bar. Really don't know what to make of it, seemed like something out of the 'league of gentlemen'!

Lovely riverside watering hole. Weather was a perfect, late summer's evening when I visited. Musical entertainment was provided by a great band called Polaris who played sixties music in the marquee acroos the road from the pub.
I shall be back, availing myself of the convenient and regular train service.

Had a good time here on a mixed up Summers day at their Beer Festival, heat then squally showers had us sitting outside then rushing for cover. The festival is great and you can hang out around the front, chatting away, which is good because inside, it can only be described as scruffy and disorganised. This is not to run it down, it's probably part of it's charm. What is not so great is the food, this is of the Microwave school of cooking, probably the worst Pub food I have had in years and believe me I have had some dodgy ones. Back to the outside though and it is a happy place, mock tudor with a beaten up marquee across the, thankfully, quiet road and the river moorings. I liked my time there but wouldn't eat again.

Visited again in July 2010. A staggering range of beers including Humpty Dumpty, Green Jack and Fat Cat. I like this pub a lot, particularly for the location and beer, but it doesn't half stink of dog.

Last visited in August 2009 for the beer festival and had a great time. This is a good pub to visit by train in the summer (15 min walk from station). From memory, local Humpty Dumpty and Wolf beers usually on. If you enjoy the Humpty Dumpty beers, visit the brewery while you are in Reedham - very friendly owners and excellent beer.

I have been going into the Nelson now for 10 years and have seen a few landlords come and go and Bill and Roz are the best landlord and landlady that the Nelson has had in the last 10 years as to the strong smell of dog what do you expect when there are a varity of dogs going in most days some from the village and some from visitors it would only take a couple of dogs to go in a bit wet and the smell will linger and over the last 20 months they have both worked really hard to make a go of the pub and i sincerley hope they are here to stay

A good pub, a vast improvement from the Landlords former pub, the Five Bells in Bromley. Great atmosphere and good selection of ales and ciders. Service was quick and the staff helpful and efficient.

O Dear lovely location, looks great from the outside but the smell of DOG was overpowering you have been warned. Spoke to some people on my way out when their food arrived, agree with previous comments about sandwiches

Friendly pub with a good range of well kept ales, riverside drinking area, bar billiards table, book exchange and frequent live music. Only average for food. Smells very doggy though thanks to resident and visiting canines.

A nice unspoilt pub. Went to the first night of their first beer fest which was good although alot of beers were not on. The ones we tried were good as was the live band outside. If a nice sunny day by the river with good ales in a nice unspoilt pub is what you want then this is it. We will definately visit again.

Best from the three riverside pubs in Reedham yesterday. A great selection of hand pumped ales. Five hand pumps but seven beers available with both Humpty Dumpty beers served straight from the cask. I did not write down all the beers but remember Humpty Dumpty Bad Egg & Duty Done, Marstons Ashes Ale, GK IPA and Green Jack Orange Wheat. There was also a real cider advertised in the bar for sale. Some of our group decided to eat here as did I. I had the Irish steak sandwich with horseradish sauce advertised in the pub. It was pretty good and I did not have to wait too long to receive it. My only complaint would be that it would have been far nicer if it had been on hand sliced thick bread. It did not seem right to have this on standard Warburtons medium ready sliced bread. The pub has seating across the road by the River Yare. A nice place to sit on a lovely day whilst enjoying a beer or two. I would guess that this will be in the forthcoming 2010 GBG due in September.

Fantastic village pub on the river. Great range of beer: 7 ales including 2 from Humpty Dumpty (based in the village) and two real ciders. Home cooked food available at reasonable prices and it has its own restaurant. Beer garden across the road overlooks the river - lovely place to enjoy a drink on a sunny day.

The pub has now re-opened, with new Landlord and Landlady (since June 2008). Very good selection of real ales - many from local breweries including Humpty Dumpty - and a good range of wholesome home cooked food. Folk music Wednesday Evening and Sunday afternoons in the Summer, and other entertainment on an ad-hoc basis. Well worth a visit.

From outside pub looks neglected, dried up hanging baskets & weeds growing in paving, stayed for a week next door to this pub hardly ever anybody in there. Staff o.k but no atmosphere due to lack of people in height of the summer
